Galaxy Force Japan TRU EX-02 Sonic Convoy Review

After 2 weeks of EX-02 TRU Japan Exclusive Sonic Convoy being stocked at my room, i finally opened this huge giftset. Here are some comments I have about this set..

PACKAGING: Personally i don't dig the boxart, the boxstyle, the inner container.. but maybe this is the style that is popular in Japan now.. Regarding the inner container, I prefer plastic tray instead of tied to twisties.. Well its Takara's way of being enviromentally friend..





TOY (PART 1): After checking out the toy, the first thing I was really suprised and happy is the generous amount of CHROME in both Optimus Convoy and Sonic Bomber. The Optimus seems to be of an improved "tighter joint" version compared to the Cybertron Optimus I opened a few months ago. After transforming Convoy / Optimus, im very happy with the metallic paint and translucent plastic. The translucent plastic gives out a mystical glow in some shots! Very happy with this toy, only complaint, the Trailer is not molded in translucent plastic. A minor problem that is.. Please see photos below..











TOY (PART 2): Sonic Bomber has a new chrome paint job which is nice.. but i wish they did mold sonic Bomber in translucent plastic. The final form is nice combination.. no problem with combining especially because Optimus Prime / Convoy has now much tighter joints. This translucent Convoy is now a nice addition to my set of translucent Transformers (Fire Convoy, God Magnus) as seen in the photo below! Enjoy!

If you check Sonic Bomber's face closely you will see that Takara have remolded it. Much better than the original GF Sonic Bomber where his eyes were covered by the helmet thingie. I don't know about the Cybertron version though.



How much is this giftset Malvin?

Wow! Gold matrix! My primary complaint with both Cybertron and Galaxy was that Takara and Hasbro could have at least put some chrome on it.

BTW.........I hope it ain't true but some websites are complaining that their transluscent exclusives are more brittle than the regular materials. Care to comment?
