* I've seen one, handled it but don't actually own one ;D, given as I already own an original but please allow me to post a review just the same.
Honest to goodness, for those who don't own him, you've got to get one, (probably didn't have to tell you guys) this is one bad@ss 'cons from the G! era. This micro player was high tech even for its time.
Bio: ".......Soundwave superior, .........constructicons............." quote from the Movie circa 1986.
Opportunist.........now scientist(?) from Stormbringer............with the mechanized echoing voice, the G1 character really built up the essence of his personality.
Now the review:
By the way, in all aspects this Soundwave is basically Soundblaster in blue.
Great blue hue with a bit of marbling plastic. smooth but kinda light in weight (unlike the Soundblaster mold, which felt kind off heavier) and his head is that of Soundblaster (obviously, I mentioned the fact 'cause Soundwave's head has some molding difference with Soundblaster (very minute though)
His chest compartment is transparent clear (the original was yellow) capable of holding two cassettes.
Rub symbol is located on the left arm (like Soundblaster) with the decepticon symbol on the chest plate (unlike Soundblaster who had none)
Metal parts(?), his feet and shoulder joints. The Original Soundwave had his feet painted black, this one just had plain diecast feet.
Pecularities.
I might have just missed it but I couldn't find any Hasbro markings on this figure (Original Soundwave had it in the battery compartment).
Safety reasons notwithstanding, his weapons don't fire.
Ravage cassette retained the "Fortmax system readout" which supposed can be decoded by the scarlet hue of the chest compartment of Soundblaster. Laser beak, the first "official" re-issue retained the simulated magnetic tape label plus the metallized labels of the cassette (metal micro..........)
Label sheet is the Japanese #17 same as Soundblaster.
The cassettes come also with the clear plaster cassette holders just like 'blaster ;D but also retained the lighter feeling plastic (+) the diecast parts.
Box art: Pat Lee's artwork, same as the soundwave re-issue of takara, including a red style box color plus a pop-up picture of the original Soundwave with the single capacity chestplate.
I'll probably be kicking myself in the butt for not getting him 'cause "once you've gone black, you won't be comin' back", but, hey.............his Soundwave, if you didn't own one, any self respecting TF collector musn't miss.
