Classics Grimlock starts off in his traditional T-Rex alt mode. Since he's supposed to be a mechanical dino (as opposed to an organic one), he has provisions for mounting his gun on his back. He's molded out of gray plastic with gold paint to accentuate him. His body has pannel-lining to give it a weathered effect. Yes, his dino head does seem a little flat.
Articulation would be on the dino's tail (left and right swivel at 4 points) the dino's hips, knees and ankles. The claw-like feet is made of 1 piece and do not close. The dino "arms" are just 1 plastic piece attached to the body via ball-joint.
"Me Grimlock dino again! Not stupid crane or muscle car!"
As a nice touch to the Classics line, the rub-sign is back!
"Me Grimlock like GeeOne rubsign!"
This is Grimlock in robot mode -- as a radical departure from the G1 mold, Grimlocks feet are now formed by the dino's head. In robot mode, he still comes out with the gold colored chest.
As a carry-over from the dino mode, the gun can also be stowed at the back of the robot:
Hands-free:
The tail can be detatched from its mount and has an extra peg that fits in the fist-hole of the robot mode. The tail's flexibility has the designers pass it to us as a whip. You can keep it rigid and upright and pass it as a sword if you want to go G1.

Here's a comparisson of Classics Grimlock with deluxe Megatron. Based on their alt modes, Megatron presents himself as the bigger T-Rex. One can say that the transformation style of Grimlock from robot to dino is what makes him seem smaller than deluxe Megatron.
In robot mode, Grimlock's blocky stature presents the image that he is the heftier and bulkier of the two T-rexes.
Dino face-off:
"I am Megatron! The most short-packed transformers that ever came out in the malls!"
Robot mode face-off:
"Me Grimlock king of short-pack! Me Grimlock being scalped at double price! Megatron never reach double price"
Grimlock is an interesting and fun piece to tinker around. He looks less comical than his Energon namesake. His construction looks nice and solid though I wish they used more screws on his joints instead of rivets. If you can bag him at his SRP of P700 and he's a good buy (whether loose or MISC). If you can get him loose for a lower price, then better! If you plan to get him at his current price of P1,500+, then I hope you've got the budget for it!
My opinion is that Grimlock alone isn't a "Classic Grimlock". Grimlock with his dinobot buddies in deluxe size instead of minicons? Well, that's what I'll call a classic!
