"Peace through tyranny"is the quote of the megalomaniac known as Megatron.
If the DW/WWI storyline by Furman will be Megatron's official story canon ( plus IDW upcoming Megatron 1 shot) then we're in for a ride.
The rise to power of cold and calculating Machiaviellian mechanoid whose true purpose ( .......peace?) is really clouded in misery.
Why convert Cybertron into a mobile Cosmic Dreadnaught? Anyway, adapting the initial plot line of the original Marvel series into the War Within series is a stroke of genius by Simon Furman.
Now back to the figure..............
Megatron: Decepticon Leader, Gladiator, genius, genocidal maniac or political genius?
Transform mode: Cybertronian tank
Features: independently targetable fusion cannon, removable forward turret and a fixed gun barrel ( possibly one of these is his Anti-matter gun while the other is his particle beam weapon)
(* conjecture on my part based on his G1 weapons specs)
Points of articulation: 11
Paint quality: on a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.9 ( I'd have preferred chrome), wayyyyy better than the original Optimus whose color schemes looks blah
Face sculpt ( when viewed from pics he looks dorky) but when viewed personally, nearly identical to Don Figueroa's designs, probably due to the gray finish.
Being a Cybertronian gladiator champion, Megs is buffed, almost like a body builder, oversized shoulders and thick legs. No wonder he hates his current earth disguise of a Walther P-38, he lost a lot of tons with the new disguise format.
Transform mode gimmickry: remember Armada Megs, nearly identical but that's where I've got a beef, instead of his tank treads legs aligning with the treads of his shoulders, nada! Just push it back ), Twist his torso and attach the movable turret/shield and you get the Decepticon tank.
Pet peeves: the placement of the hand cannon on his forearms. In the comic, he could attached them like is G1 counterpart. But here, the peg is too short that it keeps on falling off. You are forced to have him hold it by his hands.
Buy factor: Since I'm familiar with the story, I purchased him, but for first time collectors, I'd suggest you buy the DW story first, to better appreciate him
Over all: a solid purchase in the Titanium series.
