The nice thing about working in IT is you get to be assigned to nice places like Tokyo. Its been a week and I'm very happy with this acquisition. I was walking along famous Akihabara street when I stumbled upon Beast Wars Optimus Primal (Clear version).
I saw three (3) other variants of this figure but this one caught my eye!
The box
Packaging is typical Japanese style. Plastic window infront so you can see the figure in all its glory. A sticker written in Japanese tells you that this is somewhat of an exclusive or a special item. The back part of the box shows a nice diorama of other Beast Wars Transformers in action.
The figure - Beast Mode
I don't know but I think there's something very special with clear plastic because it simply makes the figure stand out. Check this out. The figure is clear with only some black plastic parts on the head and arms. A close up reveals Primal's eyes are red and the teeth are white.
The figure - Robot Mode
This Primal version is what I like because the face plate is full there's no slit to show the mouth (I'm not a fan of half-open face plate). The figure is quite tall -- give it take 5" - 6" tall plus he looks bulky enough to take on some Predacons/Megatron.
The weapons
I'm surprised to discover that you don't mess with Optimus Primal because he is loaded with weapons!
Shoulder cannons are activated when you push a button at the back. Pretty neat and you can load it with projectiles and it actually fires.
Arm cannon/guns.
Press a button on Primal's left arm and a cannon pop-ups up! Projectiles can also be loaded for some firing action. Wow!
Skull Mace?
I don't know what to make of it but Primal's right arm has a hidden sort of Skull Mace. I don't know what for but sure looks cool to me. Plus Primal comes with two swords colored black (not shown).
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and to think that I got this pretty cheap.
