Just got both Aerith and Tifa, but since moeyo hasn't put up a reference pic, I'll focus on Tifa first.
It's been over a decade since Nick des Barns (from the defunct Gamefan mag) called it the greatest video game ever made(at least for the PSOne) and up til now, Square Enix has continuously been milking the franchise to its fullest.
Now, we get our hand to a near accurate video game representation of our videogame heroines.
Unlike the Advent Children version, Tifa looks nearly 98% identical to the game's CGI image and the proto pics. Let me begin my rant...................
Box: Tifa designated by a silver stamp no.2
: smooth black finish sporting JANCODE 4988601310284/UPCODE 699788821855
: mix of japanese descriptions and english plus a Diamond Comic distribution logo London
: made in China
Contents: Tifa, (2) extra fists, stand, black base and metal holder.
The Review:
Background: Talk about unrequited love :huhu: , anyway, our buxom beauty is a childhood friend of knuckle head SOLDIER pretender Cloud (lucky b@stard having two angels having romantic feelings for him). A master of Kakutoh(Blitz arts), her fighting skill are without peer (hence her skimpy clothing). Ultimate weapon Final Heaven.
Overall appearance: face is near identical to the end CGI movie prior to the Lifestream's appearance in stopping Meteo. The eyes, her cute nose, pink lipstick smile all spot on. Her hair is raven black with a mix of auburn brown. In comparing my cold cast version of her by Kotobukiya, I just found out she is just wearing (1) silver earring on her left ear.
Other details such as her tank top( white plus kind of semi see thru effect of her flesh exposing her belly button) suspenders( the weak point if stretched too much) elbow armor(which moves), adjustable skirts, battle gloves, belt and boots, shoe laces and socks. No smudging but having detailed weathering like apps. BTW, her pantsu isn't all white(same paint apps like her tank top)
Articulation: Box says 22 points of articulation and yes, she is very stable when posing but if applying the kick test ala Sonsaku's style, I think you might damage her skirt.
Now that I've unloaded all the facts I can squeeze, I'm going subjective on the item. Being that I am a certified fanatic for FF RPGs, I have only patronized a few of their products. FF7 Extra Knights for its time was charming but well kinda stiff. Same for FF8 Extra Knights (though the japanese version seemed much better painted than the international version) I got the near 10" versions of them by Koto, FF9 to be honest sucked (very limited too), FF10, very limited too, got their 10" versions. FFX-2, well this just got better  with their articulation and art designs (heck there was Rikku Aguilera )
Later some FF8 PlayArts were also released but I stayed away from them too, Selphie looked kinda stoned and Rinoa was, well kinda anemic hehehe.
FF7:AC looked kinda blah for the girls then this pics came for these babies. You know what? It's all this and more. The by line that Tetsuya Nomura had a direct hand in the designs supervision really speaks for itself, they really look, more improved from their simple designs in the game. Tifa looks perky, sexy and just plain nice (could it have been possible to add an oppai bounce feature? hehehe).
A great purchase for any fan. Buy one and you won't regret it.
Once moeyo gets an Aerith pic up, I'll also put up a review for her (another excellent figure) BTW, in the January Hobby Dengeki, I also saw an ad for Yuffie Kisagari's FF7 version coming soon. Enjoy!
