I am no pro but i think you paint the background color first then you mask it and make the holes for the pods. Its hard to do it the other way around, I think..

The best place ( and the cheapest price ) is Joli's - it's and arts and enginneering supply near UST. They have one branch along Espana (in between Lacson and Ramon Magsaysay H.S.) and one at P. Noval (The next street after Lacson going to Quiapo). Price of a 12"X18" X0.5mm sheet cost 35-40.
Lil's also have...but it's expensive compared to Joli's
Hope this helps.

Are you sure it's styrene sheet? Probably its PVC sheet. Which looks like styrene sheet, but if you take a look at it closely, there's a world of difference between them. PVC is a harder material than styrene, therefore it's harder to work with. It also does'nt adhere easily with the Tamiya liquid glues. I've tried to substitute Styrene with PVC sheet before because of the cheaper price, but I end up using the latter because of it's better properties. Better be sure that it's really Styrene your buying, or you'll end up regretting it. peace

the uniball pen is not made for plastic models so sometimes i use it to double coat the lines... anywei.... there's no perfect tech pen for paneling... the last pen i bought is a grey ink gundam techpen for lighter lines which is by my own choice of effects (plus, it looks cleaner than the black)...
as of the moment im experimenting on how to make the finest panel lines...

I use thinned enamel paint for panel lines. 1 drop of grey paint + 2-3 drops of enamel thinner (i use diff. shades of grey or brown depending on the base color, coz black is too dark for me). apply it to the panel lines with a pointed brush. let it dry, then wipe off excess paint with a rag moisten with enamel thinner or cotton buds dipped in enamel thinner.
hope this helps. ;D ;D ;D

I use the "Evergreen" brand styrene sheets with thickness ranging from 0.13mm. to 1mm. They also have styrene tubings and square tubings. The price per A4 size of 3 pieces is S$5.00 or around Php 150.

Ei archaznable, Its not that difficult and not for pros either, you should try it. if you commit an error in applying enamel paint, you could always wipe off the paint with enamel thinner. enamel paint if thinned properly, will flow with the direction of the panel lines, just use a pointed brush. practice lang. try it with your old or unwanted kits if you're unsure if this is not effective.

Problem though is that it is too rare here in the philippines. only 2 shops carry it and most of their designs are round tubes, the bar and column shaped ones are SUPER RARE
