based on what i've read on some sites, most pro modellers uses 2 methods in achieving the metallic look.
1. uses the available pre-mixed hobby metallic paints, such as Tamiya, Gunze, etc.
2. uses silver-colored paint for the base paint. then spraypaint it with clear color paints on top of it.
after that, put some clear gloss topcoat to protect it from scratches and dust. take note that some modellers uses some rubbing compound after the topcoat applied to make it more shiny.
hope that helps.

I've read in one of the threads here, I think, of how to remove the gold/chrome plates from kits like the Hyaku Shiki but I'm having difficulty locating it. Can anyone please advise me? Thanks all
