i found the movie decent. the effects were totally amazing. however story wise it just cannot compare to the pacing and drama of the 1986 animated flick. i believe the fresh take on the robot designs and characters deviated too much from the original. Admittedly im an old school fan, so i was expecting more of the trademark autobot-decepticon rivalry instead of having alien organics duke it out. i can forgive the bumblebee corvette (due to the GM deal), but looking at ironhide and the rest of the crew, ugh. the new look tf is still much better than beast wars designs ;D

one more thing was megatron's voice, its just like a coarser version of prime's. i did appreciate prime's iconic quotes though.

despite the gripes i enjoyed it by sheer spectacle of the CGI and via comical scenes. i realized that michael bay made the movie in the premise of "i could care less if it sucks and unfaithful to fanboys, it is still a very entertaining mainstream movie". worked wonders at the box office.

still hoping for a more retro sequel.
