Publisher: Square Enix and co-produced by Buena Vista Games
Format: PS2
Genre: Action RPG (according toTetsuya Nomura)
Director: Tetsuya Nomura (character designer of FF7,FF8,FF10 and FFX-2)
Rarely does a game pique your interest. You've got Zelda,Biohazard, Super Mario, DOA2,Soul Calibur.............etc.
Now we've got Kingdom Hearts 2. An RPGer wet dream combining a lot of beloved characters we all have grown to love in both Square and Disney games.
Techically speaking, Zelda and Super Mario 3 ripped unashamedly a lot of character designs from Disney (erhm..........Peter Pan.......). So this game is the "official" product.
At present(without spoiling much of the plot), you've got a lot of FF7 style memory flashbacks of Roxas( pronounced "Rocksas", a boy who has some striking resemblance to Sora (the hero of the 1st Kingdom Hearts), he also is able to wield two keyblades at a time........................
I am clocking at present, 12 hours of the game, of which I have nothing but phrase for the game. Some aspects of the action though borrows heavily from Shenmue (at least as far as I remember) when at critical moments you are prompted to press the triangle button to give a nasty whammo on the uber huge bosses.)
Remember my mentioning Nomura-san's previous Square projects? Well, nearly all of the leading characters make a guest appearance (Advent Children............hint,hint ;D)
Mickey Mouse also has a larger presence and he is bad@ss in some scenes ( shameless plug, but I believe GT has the TOMY figures of Kingdomhearts 2 available now )
The character designs are classic Nomura, a more detailed anime type representation of the FF7 characters (who make their return plus others no spoilers) and the voice acting is top notch. Only difference in the manual is that this time, thhe Voice-Actors aren't credited.
Previously to site an example:
Aerith: Mandy Moore
Sora: the kid from AI....Olmont.....something
Ansem:........the bad guy in Titanic , he also played the Phantom.....Billy Zane.
Squall: ............"Angel".........
The Disney characters are also professionally voiced by the official seyyu...................
The manin bad guy is "Xemnas"................already a hint as to his true identity.............
This game is that good that I highly recommend a purchase.
So for those who might be able to score this game, do it now. ( Datablitz, from which I got my copy, sold out their entire 15 stocks, supposedly they ordered 30 )
