"Freedom is the right of.............." wrong series hehehehe. In fact with the exception of the storyline, I really detest the character designs.
But lo and behold, just like KISS Convoy/Alternator who I vowed never to touch proved me wrong.
Source: greattoys at great prices! ;D plugging
Price:(?) ask the big kahuna first
Description:
Box# 80791 reminds me of the Armada series
Contents:
Optimus Prime half trukk............truck.
Ion blaste............Ion Axe (becomes sort of like a camper shell)
Water Gun/"fire extinguisher ala RID Convoy
Instruction Manual (without plastercover.....talk about cost cutting)
Now the figure itself:
www.seibertron.com/transformers/toys/animated/optimus-prime/1452/1/5/
He comes as a "robot in disguise" firetruck rescue vehicle similar to RID/Fire Convoy but only smaller (like the ones used in Asian countries)

See the comparison of his various versions (earth and cybertron mode)
Siege mode to quote Simon Furman

A real imposing site indeed. Looking like a cross between Star Convoy, Fire Convoy and Galaxyforce Convoy with a tinge of JLA.

This pose I like......looking very bad@ss

This I hate.......looking like Jay Leno (no offense Mr. Leno)
It's a good thing that like Galaxyforce, Hasbro included the mouth guard adjust option.
Transformation: It says level 3 transformation which isn't that complicated (except for the waist locking feature which is kinda tricky)
Articulation: I count 12 but there is a limitation on how you can adjust his wrist (you just lock them in place and just like that...............). Oh and despite the skinny Arthur Adam's (check his art style) pose, the toy is stable.
Paint apps: Spot on and neat though if I were Takara I'd give him chrome on the fenders, thighs and that 4 barrel abs of his.
The feel of the paint is adequate and neat, given the character design of the toy though it would have been neat if (water under the bridge) if there were more "mecha" effects like Galaxyforce). he does have a circuit board like design on his chest/windshield colored dark blue.
Gimmicks: Light-piping blue optics
adjustable face guard
Camper shell/ion axe cum rocket pack(?)
water gun
"gravity spin" assisted conversion aka auto morph?
Negatives: (the arms tend to fall off), and a part of the axe also tends to disassemble.
: minor issue........he's got no autobot symbol (while the deluxe version has one).
: no biocard
Personal rant: this is the second time I admit on having placed my foot in my mouth with this particular series. This Optimus is a worthy successor to a long line of Convoys. Imposing, macho, bad@ss. Just looking at him with the face guard on give you the feeling of awe.
I just had to get one despite the horror stories on the series' quality issues. As a fan, if you have to just choose which one you ought to get, this is choice numero uno!
Overall: 4.6 out of a perfect 5
