mattel announced in the most recent toy fare magazine issue that it will be unveiling a new line of MOTU figures. these new line will feature the classic 80s designs but the figures will apparently have marvel legends-style joints (and maybe size as well). here's a preview of the new Classics Skeletor figure: i'm definitely sold on this new line! ;D can't wait for the pics of he-man, man-at-arms and the rest of the eternia gang. and i hope they release new versions of the vehicles as well. battle ram anyone? and wouldn't it be cool if they packaged the figures in the classic-style cardbacks with painted artwork instead of pictures?

from the mattel online shop and heman.org here's the most powerful man in the universe in all his updated but classic glory: do i hear "by the power of greyskull" already? apparently, the line will initially be available only through mattel's online store (www.mattycollector.com). but they may release it for mass production depending on the success of the initial release. the figures are at $20 each. no pre-orders yet, and he-man is scheduled for release in october. skeletor will be released in december (what a christmas present... ;D) set for release are he-man, skeletor, beast man, stratos, mer-man and zodak (what, no man-at-arms? ) the figures will stay true to the vintage line in terms of the sculpts, removeable armor and weapons/accessories. mattel is even considering including a mini comic book (a la vintage style) in later releases, again depending on the success of the initial six figures.

News about the He-man classics line from the New York Comics Convention (thanks to he-man.org) 1. The newest figures in the MOTUC line will be Hordak, Man-at-Arms and Tri-Klops! ;D 2. The release schedule planned thus far is: Stratos in February Faker in March Mer-Man in April Zodac in May Hordak in June Man-at-Arms in July Tri-Klops in August! 3. Battle Cat is coming in 2010! 4. The first female character will be released this year, more are coming in 2010! (I hope it's the Sorceress )5. A protective shipping box or sleeve will be introduced for MOTUC starting with Man-at-Arms! 6. Some months may see the release of a "bonus figure" for purchase. Bonus figures would be will repaints and/or re-releases of previous MOTUC figures. 7. A Castle Grayskull type display may be in development, but no actual playset. 8. Mini-comics are still possible. 9. Mattel is still looking into possible reissue of sold-out MOTUC figures, and how they will be released if so (different packaging? different paint ops? etc). 10. While most action-features are not going to happen, things like flocking and smells might be possible. (Stinkor, anyone? )11. If Fisto is made, he might be named Fisto again but no guarantees. 12. Still no Filmation characters for the MOTUC line. 13. Tytus and Megator are still possible, and might be based off DC figure molds. 14. If the movie comes out, there will probably be a separate toy line for it. 15. Another variation of MOTUC Zodac might be produced. 16. If King Randor is produced, he will probably lean towards his classic design instead of the 2002 design. (Yes, please Mattel, issue a King Randor figure 17. Fearless Photog is unlikely to be produced.

Teela! (Heroic Warrior Princess) This line is truly shaping up! Can't wait for the release of Battle Cat in 2010! ;D
