Pics to follow kimosabes..................
Just got this from greattoys and boy this one is the BEST KO so far!
*Anyway a low down on this somewhat weird TF.
A creation based on the designs of the legendary Shinji Aramaki, he was part of the Micro figure line of Takara. Though first appeared in the first #3 part pilot, the figure/s didn't make an official USA appearance in retail. Instead it came as a special offer around 1986. (which is probably why it came from a white plain box)
In Japan, he/they were available in retail (also saw the japanese boxed version looooooong time ago at Philcite but couldn't afford it .)
Contents"
White box
the ever "environmentally friendly styrofoam case"
(1) Reflector camera aka
(1) Spectro (switch)
(1) Spyglass
(1) Viewfinder (the leader)
(3) missiles
(3) guns
(1) flash/missile launcher
(1) lens
(2) label sheet
(1) instruction manual
(1) tech spec decoder
Being G1, don't expect any articulation, he /they are a brick.
Looking for die-cast? He/they have oodles of diecast. For Spectro (the red one) and Spyglass (the blue one), it's their torso while Viewfinder has the zinc type metal hidden in his frame.
Chrome? Check their legs .......all thick and shiny
Gimmicks: well Viewfinder has a sort of magnifying lens in his chest while Spyglass' his flash bulb doubles as a missile launcher. Spectro on the other hand doubles as the camera switch.
Transformation: Simple and yet logical.
Now my rant...............previous molds of G1 KO's were never perfect. Devastator, Grimlock and Wheeljack. But this one, no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to find one........yet.
Paint apps are spot on, thick and no smudging. Plastic mold really smooth and almost glossy. His chromed thighs are also well done and the joints are very tight. heck, even the label sheet is nicely done and I haven't noticed any "spelling" errors on the manual.
Ohh wait........the plain white box, that's my complaint, no picture for reference hehehe
How'd the KO makers attain this? A high quality master mold? Highly recommended purchase
