Nice kit you got there sir. Hope you could post some more of your 'secret' collection. ;D I know the feeling when your parents disapprove of your passion for something but you gotta get what you want, right? One day those kits would get out in the open hehe. |

Finally.... great to see you post your collection bro.  Er, define "legal." Is there such a thing as an illegal hobby?  But I think a lot of us initially went through the whole parental rig-a-ma-roll of batang isip ka ba? or pambata lang yan ah when we first started collecting and that's ok. Their generation wasn't into that but they can grow out of it. I went through the same thing with all my relatives so I know how it feels. I don't really know what kind of relationship you have with your parents but I'm hopeful that if you show them how much you love your hobby, they would (and should) understand. They'll probably get mad at you for the like the first 50 hauls they see but eventually they'll get tired and let you be, then you can enjoy the hobby all you like. Just kidding! It's still best that you talk to them and let them know what you want. Anyway, more power! Hope to see more of your collects soon! ;D |

Thats so sad bro. So you don't display your collections??  I agree with what qb said... I kinda experience the same thing, even up to now they will say something about my collection. Just talk to them or just wait until they get used to it. |

ah, everybody's been/in that situation.
i think the general stereotypical perception of this hobby of model kit collecting is that its a "kid's hobby" since it is a "robot" after all.
its really is a hard case to justify with people who think they're "mature" (and especially with parents). everybody's got a hobby (your dad's elvis/bee-gees/eagles collection, your mom's japanese plates collection, your sister's shoe/boots collection) - its just a coincidence that you like humanoid machines with guns, swords and such - so whats wrong with that? oh the irony indeed.
still, if you like something so much that its not destructive AND it does not hurt anyone (financial-wise or something) then go for it. its something that you love, and no one else has the right to criticize you for it.
try this answer sometimes - "what do you want me to do, hang out with chicks until wee hours in the morning?" (that worked for me though i ironically i really do discreetly).

but yeah, they'll grow tired of telling you those things man... like my dad now, before he was like, para kang bata ah!.. but soon realized that this is my passion... the moment he realized that, he stopped.. and now? NOW? he's the one who calls me to ask what fig/kit do i want when he's out of the country... hehe.. my mom, i've never heard a single complaint from her... just sometimes she'll remind me that "o anak, dahan dahan lng sa pagbili, baka mapuno ung kwarto mo... pareho lng kayo ng kuya mo" hahaha.. ;D

Oh my the big secret has been reviled... Closet gundam collector ka pala... hehehe!!! I guess that's what they always say...
We do went to that kind of process... The right word would be they'll get "immune" on what your doing and realize that there's nothing bad in your hobby... Even my Grandma knows the word Gundam na hehehe!!! she don't call it robot's anymore...
