It has been said that the popularity of MMA ( Mixed Martial Arts ) has been on an all time high recently and close to matching Boxing's popularity. For me I prefer MMA as Boxing bores me, especially the last Pacman fight. I have this notion that Boxing is half sport half business... Looking back at the last Manny-Oscar fight, the match was built on paper saying Oscar would kill 'Pac, but guess what the unthinkable happened... And to think Oscar has heavily promoted the fight ( of course to sell tickets ) then quit in a fight? ( Not to mention being warned for not punching back ). That's cheating!!! In fact Oscar has nothing to lose, he's a legend.. Not to take away from Pac but for me its not an satisfying win.. As for me, the more money involved in a fight the more of it having an unsatisfying or a fishy ending..

As for me, the more money involved in a fight the more of it having an unsatisfying or a fishy ending.. Since Brock Lesnar tagged into the MMA scene they have been doing pretty well in the PPV gates. Both sports have had their share of strengths and weaknesses, but to compare the two in terms of popularity is not really fair to both. Boxing is a globally recognized sports with a plethora of hotbeds across the world and multiple organizations that have been running it for so long. MMA is mostly concentrated in America and in Japan, with the UFC having the lion's share of the MMA market. Although Pac-DLH was the best PPV for 2009, why does MMA have a lot of successful tickets during the same year? One thing going for MMA is its much more centralized than boxing (thanks to the UFC) which is scattered all over. When MMA makes a PPV card, its fully loaded, meaning you get more bang for the buck- more stars on the undercards, more chances to hype. Boxing doesnt do that, it will take a lot of wheeling dealing from promoters and governing bodies to make a card like that. I missed your point on how you felt it was cheating when Pacquiao obliterated Oscar pre Manny was just doing his job in the ring, DLH made the biggest mistake of his career by underestimating Pacquiao, getting underrated southpaws while preparing. Heck, Beristain got rid of Valero who was the closing thing to Manny Pacquiao in sparring. He also built a gameplan built on speed (hence his lowest fight weight in 12 years) and it backfired on him. But most importantly, he had no answer to the southpaw left lead and overall strategy presented by roach and pac, confusing him all night to the point he was cringing defensively during the last couple of rounds. Oscar is a great fighter, but faded or not he will be remembered for this loss, ushering the Henry Armstrong comparisons to Manny Pacquiao in the process, and for every Filipino out there its an exceedingly satisfying win imho.

nah man what i meant was it seems oscar cheated his boxing fans by quitting ( i dont know if its him or his corner ). I was a very big fan of his, but for him to promote tha fight the way he did and quit? I don't think so.. Pac's face was really messed up when he faced morales the first time ( or is it marquez? ) and he didnt quit. I've been a boxing fan before, including the lindol espinosa & lennox lewis days.. btw, GSP rules! Matchida should face Evans, and I hope Vera wins in UFC 96 (is it? )

I prefer BOXING. I tried watching an MMA match on cable. To me, it's not a fight. It's 2 grown men fighting like 10 year olds. Where is the honor where your opponent is on the ground while you keep pounding the guy like a queer?

In fact Oscar has nothing to lose, he's a legend.. Not to take away from Pac but for me its not an satisfying win.. As for me, the more money involved in a fight the more of it having an unsatisfying or a fishy ending.. ur just one of those people riding the mma bandwagon fad... if boxing bores u then ....ur not really a boxing fan.... its the same for me....thats why i think im not really a mma fan....mma bores me ...watching two people grappling endlessly...cnt stand two men like making love..... thats why more mma fighters now are utilizing boxing skills to make mma more interesting...and u see the crowd get pumped up more when sum1 gets koed in mma... on the business side... u cant compare boxing to mma... mma is like wwe....dana white is like vince mcmahon.....he runs the ufc as an organization........(making brock as thier champion...comparison is not really that hard...hehehe... who's next...bobby lashley?......wheres the script?....hehehe..) boxing is not like that......boxing has grown so much in the last fifty years... dat makes it almost impossible to have it as a one org...hence boxing orgs such as the wbc, wba, wbo, ibf and so many countless others have emerged through the years....and these orgs are not really the ones organizing a boxing match much like ufc is doing with mma...they are are just sanctioning bodies for title matches....many boxing matches are held around the world...even in the remotest places ... sometimes without the consent of an organization....shall we say wbc for example.......some fighters who won thier fight are just hoping to get noticed and get in the rankings by one of these orgs which dont give a d**n how much a boxer is paid (that is if its a title match,.. they greedy get sanction fees) ,or how successful a boxing match is.... because putting up event is very expensive.. venue, purse, training, etc...this is why its important they get sponsors for these boxing fights....."the business side" is always really there....since the ali, tyson, etc. days......how can u pay pacquiao his millions of dollars .. and dont forget anderson silva's last fight...with the crowd booing....i heard dana white apologizing for the spider's boring performance............cnt even compare him to his fellow top pound 4 pound counterpart...... whom i think... u dont believe with your fellow filipino's skill and abilities....... when did u hear pac getting boooed?..... not a satisfying win?......i think youre the type who want sum1 to get killed....hemorrage et al.. this is the time when a sport..... were so many filipino are recognized......5 world champions.... and for the first time...a filipino p4p king... .. so why not support it.....instead of bashing it... unlike in mma.... with your foreign mma idols.. who dont even know were quezon city is... what a crab....

I watch both but I tend to watch MMA more. Eitherway I only watch a bout when I think it's going to be interesting, when the fighters are not just throwing punches and sh** but doing something really worth watching.
I want to see Pacman beat the sh** out of Mayweather. To stop him once and for all... oh and hopefully Cotto can beat him too... in a way Mayweather share a mindset with "The Spider" Silva when they are confident they can win a fight...
