i have a college friend he's also a toy collector like me, and we both have a girl friend at my case i 1st budget my money b4 buying any stuff of figure that i want but if the budget won't do then i just save it or rather just spend it with my gf, at my friend's case he came to the point that he's too addicted to toy collecting! (no offense to other people) he even came to the point that he's spending already he's gf's money, it became a bad habit instead of a good one..........so it came to my mind that isn't toy collecting supposed to b a good hobby? i guess somethings still have negative effects on somepeople. toys collecting is nice but there are manny things that are MUCH more important than this.

This topic can be double edge. Your intentions may be good. Yet some members may get offended
MY TWO CENTS: I don't see nothing wrong in collecting things (toys or otherwise). It all depends on how a person manages his money. Your friend may be a impulse buyer.
"toys collecting is nice but there are manny things that are MUCH more important than this." - this is true for people who are still in school. The allowance that you guys recieve comes from your parents hard work. Now if your parents are rich, go ahead and splurge.
One of the most common problem with some collectors (again toys or otherwise), is that they are impulse buyers. They buy an item because, in tagalog:"wala lang, gusto ko lang". ("nothing special, i just wanted to buy it."). If you have a friend, a love one who is a impulse buyer, seek help.

(This topic can be double edge. Your intentions may be good. Yet some members may get offended) why would some members be offended? if its them then there is a tagalog saying "bato bato sa langit ang tamaan wag magalit"
besides i'm just sharing what i new about my college buddy.

Any collecting hobby can become "bad" if you come to a point that you'd do anything to spend for it. It's about knowing your buying capabilities clearly and balancing it out.

i've said this in another forum and/or thread.... people should learn to do ALL things in MODERATION... whether it's a good thing or a bad thing..... in tagalog term, lahat ng sobra ay masama.... and it is very, very true....

my two cents: a hobby is a pass-time, something extra you do after you've done everything else that you're supposed to: whether it's collecting, sports, gaming or whatever. we should just get our priorities straight. if you're a student, prioritize your studies. if you're working, prioritize your career. if you're a family man, family first. after all that's done, then devote some, i repeat, some, of your time to the hobby, not all of it.

i guess somethings still have negative effects on somepeople. toys collecting is nice but there are manny things that are MUCH more important than this. Like Shinn said "All things in moderation" because we all know it's only human to get too "exited" over something and lose his head because of compulsion. The main problem is we don't know our own trigger to being compulsive over something, so some people can control themselves and some couldn't. Toy collecting is nice, but as mentioned in one gundam post before "we should have thought about where we are going to display all these figures/models" (more or less like that). Then there is the obsessive side in some people where the compulsion to do something is beyond his control which will indeed need help from friends or professionals to control or tone it down. This topic can be double edge. Your intentions may be good. Yet some members may get offended MY TWO CENTS: I don't see nothing wrong in collecting things (toys or otherwise). It all depends on how a person manages his money. Your friend may be a impulse buyer. It's not, since he's only trying to make sense of the matter his friend is getting into. Some people need to accept their need to buy stuff and the compulsion to get them no matter what, denial is bad for your health. And sorry for going off topic but you just did a double negative on your grammar.Anyhoo, toy collecting is a way of de-stressing (I got lazy typing ;D) themselves for most collectors, so unless it causes stress because of the compulsion to buy another then that's not healthy. I should know I've managed to control myself from buying Gundams which at some point became detrimental personally. I'm just glad it's over and now I'm much more aware of my compulsive side.
