I attempted it once here: www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/252890-my-first-time-repaint-07-bumblebee-deluxe.htmlbut I got the customizing bug :-) so I am attempting again... now I did the dry brushing then black wash.. then i got sloppy as you can see -- they are works in progress... Here's mine-- my first time to do it-- and they are works in progress constructive criticisms welcome :-) the first ever that i did it... BB 07 deluxe and re-did it again-- with -- black wash I think.. OP Voyager first strike-- Before: he is the one in the center-- AFter --first repaint- second repaint-- got lazy--became sloppy ;-) --remember they are works in progress :-) BB Deluxe-- the 1976 or whatever year it was: after-- I don;t think I have a before pic :-( I am thinking of redoing the paint apps..

Love what you did with the grey parts. Weathering is great. But, the other colors cant catch up. Try to weather the base colors of BB and OP first before putting some battle damaged effects.

I was just wondering why Bumblebee on the movie is so dented and weathered when on robot mode but super shiny like brand new on car mode? =p
Nice job on painting, may i suggest priming first then glossy black base color (on joints) then drybrush (very dry old brush) with Tamiya silver metallic paints, works like a charm!
Prime the body and lay out the base colors like bryan said and you have more control on your brush strokes (I suggest airbrush since cars are airbrushed), then boom, add the weathered effects as your last touch-ups!

questions about priming--
1.what color is prime color? are there different colors available? 2. what benefits does priming do? aside from teh paints sticking to the plastic better(I guess?) ?
thanks..
for now I use enamel paints--testors--but will switch to acrylics... on next project...

From what I've seen, primers range from white to grey colors. I think there are no other colors for primer. PM sir "vic01" for the other effects of priming.

Priming also gives you an even, neutral color from which to build your basecoat on. This is very important because the color of the plastic can 'bleed' and affect the color of the paint.
For example, painting a red surface in white can make the surface look pink. Painting a light color like lime green on a dark blue plastic surface will make the green paint look darker than it really is.
