Guys just want to share with you the story of my football team. MODS feel free to transfer this post if it is in the wrong thread.
I'd just like to share the story of my football(soccer) team Eastmont Football Club. For 8 years i have been the pro bono coach of these children whose ages range from 8 years old to 16 years old.
For 8 years we have been making the trek from here in Tanay, Rizal to Metro Manila to join tournaments. All at the expense of the players. Every year from June to April, my players save 5 pesos a day to join these tournaments in Manila. Most of them do not come from well off families so sometimes its difficult for them to come up with the 5 pesos but they manage. And even if they don't, i come up with the remainder (hence my cheap toys on sale)
Why do they do this? They dream of someday having a scholarship in a good Manila college so that they can help their families. Since they cannot afford to enroll in these schools.
For eight years, at 5 pesos a day we make the trek to Manila. Wake up at 4am play soccer and lose.
Finally on the 23rd of January, a miracle happened. After 8 years of playing my kids finally became CHAMPIONS. The CHAMPIONS of the 7th De La Salle Zobel Football Fiesta. I cried, they cried.. and 8 years didnt seem that long anymore.
Oh did i mention that 3 of players are already playing in colleges in Manila? (1 in CSB, 2 in Assumption) and one of them is actually in the National team already.
I am writing this not to gloat or brag, I just wanted to share this with you guys. To serve as an inspiration. That nothing is impossible. So keep on dreaming
By the way here is the picture of the awarding of the Zobel Cup: they have been wearing these uniforms for three years na. As one player leaves the team he donates his uniform to the team, hence no name and number on the jersey.
