Heads up, guys !
On 10 March 2010, Director Christopher Nolan sat down with the Los Angeles Times to talk about Batman 3. ;D Though he was very tight-lipped about the matter, he did confirm the following:
- His brother, Jonathan Nolan, is working on the script for Batman 3 (no title yet) with Batman Begins/Dark Knight screenwriter David Goyer
- this will probably be "the end" of the Batman Begins story arc (of course, WB can always re-start the franchise at some later date), and Nolan has maintained that he wants the last story to be epic in scope but also a satisfying end to the story
- all surviving main characters from The Dark Knight will return
- the villain WILL NOT be Mr. Freeze (good call!
)
- Batman 3 will not make any mention/connection to Superman or any of the other DC superheroes currently/soon-to-be on film, (unlike Marvel's meshing of existing superhero movies into an eventual "Avengers" movie in 2012)
Incidentally, Nolan will be heavily involved in a Superman reboot that David Goyer is also writing, tentatively entitled "Man of Steel"

Some of the other rumors circulating about Batman 3 supposedly coming from an insider at Warner Bros studios (which Nolan did not confirm nor deny):
- Johnny Depp will be cast as the Riddler (the movie's main villain)
- hope this one is true
- the Penguin and Dr Viktor Freis (Mr. Freeze's alter-ego) will make cameo appearances (good call on this one - if it's true - since we all saw what happened to Spider-Man 3)
- thingy Grayson and Barbara Gordon will make appearances, though they will not become Robin and Batgirl, respectively, in the movie
- Arkham Asylum will feature prominently in the movie
