greetings to all macross fans. i would like to ask about the difference of the bandai's vintage macross and its reissue with respect to its design, articulations and material used.

pls. help coz im planing to buy either the vintage or the reissue. thanks

The "vintage Bandai" valks are made by Takatoku Toys, not Bandai. They are called 1/55 Kanzen Henkei Series Variable Fighters. Any valkyries made in the 80's of that kind (some people call them chunky-monkeys) were first manufactured by Takatoku, but when the company closed after a few years Bandai bought the toyline and started re-issuing the Takatoku style valks in the 2000s.

Basically the Takatokus and the Bandai re-issues are the same in terms of construction, articulation, gimmicks and most other aspects. The only known difference I know is the head of the original Takatoku VF-1S is different design/mold as that of the Bandai re-issues.

Here's my 1982 1/55 Kanzen Henkei VF-1S Hikaru Ichijoe (Macross TV version):

Here's my 2000 1/55 VF-1J Max Jenius version, which only came out in the re-issue series (I think)

Sorry I don't have pics of them transformed, but as you can see they're practically the same in fighter mode.

Obviously, Takatokus are now so rare that its very hard to find a complete set in good condition, and they're gonna be expensive (10K-22k on online shopping).

mechapunk: seems like it. a far cry when it was a fresh board in 2001. we started with just Malvin,me, omni x, and oliver. then it rose to about a hundred members, lurkers and the like. now it is a Ghost town. Oct 2, 2014 19:49:27 GMT 8
