i heard this also on the radio while coming to work.. the question is, will they keep the character dead or will it just be steve rogers who dies and the shield of Captain America will be picked up by someone else? for me i would rather see a major character really die rather than resurrect them in any way.

Well as far as im concerned I think he would suffer the same faith like what they did on Superman way back before he fought Doomsday. Millions of copies has been sold during those times .... I think that they will do the same thing for Captain America. Maybe a decade from now we will see another reborn of Captain America. But its a good thing for the story that they have killed Captain America the question is for how long will they keep Captain America buried from the grave.

i read this article on yahoo last night. and i'm not surprise at all. in the comic book world, it's really, really hard to kill an 'icon'... permanently. let's give them 6 months or a year to work on a storyline for bringing back Cap. remember what they did to Hawkeye?
Hawkeye lang yun... Captain America pa?

marvel is notorious for resurrecting characters.. it's just a matter of time before they bring cap back. but im actually hoping they would keep cap dead, if joe quesada decides to reinstate the no-resurrection rule

that's unless there's a 'contract' on the no-ressurection rule. or maybe the next EIC will ressurect him. actually now, IMO, all main characters have been ressurected. Jason Todd, Clark Kent, Donna Troy, Bucky to name a few. just give them the proper treatment and good storyline why they are needed to be ressurected, then all is back to normal... in the comic book world, ofcourse.
i read in Wizard before... "No one stays dead in comic books." guess, that's true and it's a fact.
oh wait... 'Uncle Ben' is still dead. ;D

i have a funny feeling that he'll show up in D.C. comics. a guest appearance maybe.

Are the sales just that bad? Can't they think of anything more original?

I'm sure Cap just faked his death. I think he'll come back when Hulk whups everyones asses in "World War Hulk" and save the day.

This is obviously a publicity gimmick for the upcoming "Capt. America live action movie"... Sadly, killing icon characters seems to be the the best idea that Marvel can come up with to generate "hype" for a dull and high-strung character...On the upside, this is the best opportunity to get some other character to pickup the mantle of Capt. America and rebuild the legend...

They brought Bucky back and he was supposed to be taboo. Currently the only taboo characters that are still dead are Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy. He'll be back, it's just the question when.

it was still a little suprising that they killed off captain america immediately after the civil war series finale. it may not have anything to do with comics sales since civil war was supposedly a best-seller, unless the sales of captain america's titles are dwindling...
personally, i hope they don't pull a superman on this. it was anti-climactic the say they brought back supes after just a few months.

also, there's a rumor that the sniper who shot Cap is none other than Frank Castle aka Punisher.

could it be that he faked his death like batman did in the dark knight returns in order to escape government sanctions and secretly carry on fighting

I heard that Punisher was last seen holding Cap's mask before he got caught. A lot of rumors among comic enthusiasts are coming down that Frank Castle may take up the role of Cap America. Dunno if this is true though. Heard this also on the news yesterday during the Chico & Delamar show.... Chico was reminiscing about the old cartoon and was even singing the old theme song.... "when captain america throws his mighty shield...." hehehe. I'm sure this is just marvel's way of re-vamping the character. like already mentioned, it worked for both the Superman & Batman titles...why not Captain America?
