(sorry if i ask questions like a kid) ;D thank you sir! you may but for added durability, i suggest to topcoat it with semi-gloss finish. most spraycans (especially pylox) were designed for multi-purpose use - plastics included - so no need to worry. but do check out the paint before eventually purchasing it because some were manufactured for specific type of surface only (metal only, wood only, plastic only, etc). and by the way, special coatings such as pearled ones costs more than the usual (not to mention rarity). g'luck

@knives25: thanks for checking this out, sir! tagabukid: so it's color paint- pearl finish- topcoat? thanks again for the info, sir. pylox is (will soon be) my friend..? @master mhonthie!! thanks for checking back. X20A is win!! WAAAY better than isopropyl. highly recommended! as for the silver and gold acrylic from NBS, they're water-based, so thin with water. i tried it on a piece of sprue, and i haven't been able to make it stick on the plastic surface. for further observation. hopefully i'd be able to get my hands on the Wing Ver. Ka this coming payday..!

~blog mode~ ..spent my weekend stealing MG tutorials off y*ut*be. learned a lot, came up with a wishlist of tools. experienced a higher level of craving for an airbrush set. came up wth a list of advantages over handbrushing: 1. a little paint - it's like a 30:70 paint- thinner (X20A) ratio can cover most parts of an MG kit (i have prepared 2 bottles of metallic black for this kit, and i'm almost one with the first bottle as of today). 2. saves time. it takes mere seconds to coat a part. (and dries faster because-) 3. the paint is distributed evenly. (4. + more time for cleaning, you can work during weekdays and have more time for sleep ;D) an airbrush set IS a pretty expensive investment. but i think it will be worth it. i just hope this year i'd get my hands on an AB set. and i feel like i don't wanna work on my next project without an AB. i'm not saying handbrushing is bad, it's just that my hands start to shake a lot when i'm working, i usually have a hard time trying to find time to work on painting this kit, and it requires a TON of patience (which i also have a hard time getting some).

i found this pretty cheap set over at alabang a couple months ago and i'm starting to regret not buying it when i had the opportunity. can anybody check this out (the site is in chinese, but the pictures are self-explanatory) and tell me what you think- is this worth having for a beginner who wants to have an airbrush set sooo baaad..? hk.myblog.yahoo.com/hk500t/article?mid=26i know it uses canned air so probably i can settle with taking it to an airgun shop for refilling, ne? -or probably settle (or start) with the mini air compressor from (not sure if it's kawasaki or suzuki) around the 3k- range..?

but if you're on a budget, you could also try Tamiya's Spray-Work Basic Air Compressor w/ Airbrush for starters.
hope that helps.

thanks sir no3Ljm. i truly regret it. i could have just jumped on the chance to buy that tamiya basic spray-work kit last december when i had the money (at the time i was thinking i'd just work on a single kit just for the experience of building one. but i realized this is one of the best hobbies an otaku can find, and i've already come up with a list of prospective projects for the next couple of years!!!). anyways, i've decided and i'm planning to buy (invest on) a decent airbrush set, hopefully by march i'd have one (in time for my birthday). ;D
