Hello minna-san. I had a BIG PROBLEM yesterday. Hope everyone will give me some advice. I order Gundam Strike Freedom and Destiny Gundam from Japan to my friend working in Tokyo. He bought the items last month and deliver it via "snail mail", he never know that EMS service is fast and more accurate because its the 1st time he send package here in the Philippines. And he pay all the tax and the shipping cost. Last monday, there's a notice came to my office saying there's a package arrived yesterday. I know that's my stuff that came from Japan. So i went there during break, when i got in that place i go to Window 1 which is where all the packages store. I gave my IDs for verification. Then he get my item inside the room. When he got my item, he opened it just for inspection...burara pa nga eh.. mukhang tinamaan yung box ng cutter eh. Anyway, after he opened it checked the item. He called his some sort of boss blah, blah, blah. And told him it's a toy. Oohh.. so? Then the boss told me this "Eto ba yung binubuo? Magkano ba dito itong toy na ito?" "Sabi ko around 1.5k sir" then he sit to his chair and do some computation. Then after a few minutes, he gave me this unofficial receipt but i didn't pay him for a while. When i saw the receipt, there's a lot of payables to pay. And i had to pay P1,400 for the items. I stunned. I thought i should pay for about a hundred or two plus 30 pesos. Di ko muna kinuha kasi biglaan eh. Dala ko lang is around 300. They give me 1 month. Sabi ko balikan ko na lang itong item when i get the money. . d**n. Anyway, anyone experience like this one? Or ganito talaga ang price nya pag dumating yung item galing sa ibang bansa? Please i need your help..... Ive scanned the receipt for the reference. WHAT A LOAD OF BULLSH*T!! hindi tama yan.. pick-up charge lang ang klangan mong gayaran.. bayad na dpat ang taxes nyan.. kALOKOHAN!! kung me tax man yan eh dpat around 30% lang nung item... *I know this coz my family works in the Logistics business* dpat kinuha mo ung name nung nakausap mo.. tpos i clarify mo sa ibang tao kung ano ung tamang charge.. pag Over-charging sila IREKLAMO MO!~ puro *uckers tlaga sa pilipinas... Kung ganon aabutin ung kits mo eh dpat sa mall ka nlang bumili.. wala pang hassle... mga *ucker sa gobyrno...

May $75 ako nakita...yung kit price yun? dapat tinanggal... dun naibase ang computation $75 x 56 pesos = 4,200 then added the customs duty for toys na 294 then added the fees and stamp taxes, subtotal of 5009, computes VAT at 10% then yun ang total charges. ...Dapat tinanggal ang price tag.....kaso sila nagbukas ehh.. Books kasi essentials... Tariff and Customs Code....

Bought in Japan pero in USD? Anyway, for most books the prices are printed at the back. So you can't really escape unless you tear off the back cover. Or unless you have a stupid customs officer. Even Bandai boxes have prices at the back of the box. Good thing those customs people can't find it...hehehe...or else we'll all be in trouble.
Peace

This just shows how other people take advantage of another. Selfishness really dominates a person who is full of greed. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

Oh my....... , is this really the way it goes sa mga post office, is this incident occuring all over the country??? Now, am getting anxious... cause I bought an item from ebay worthing around US $120 and it haven't arrived yet. This is the first time I bought something outside of the country. Do you all mean that I should anticipate that the same treatment may happen to me That's insane!!!!!!!!! Got to read and learn my rights now, so I can defend myself ones am put on the same dilemna I sympathized with you jcab and to all our co-members who experienced the same thing... Hope nothing of such incident will ever happen again!!!!!!!

Hope nothing of such incident will ever happen again!!!!!!! wishful thinking wingseye, but our system's so screwed that its highly unlikely that this sort of thing will be avoided. but i do hope so too.

Had the same experience with that.,.. but i manage to pay only P70 pesos.
I just clamed that it was a gift from my friend ( Which it was. but the counter guy didn't belive me at first.) In the states... that's it.. and thank god that the post man knows our family well. so he vouch for us... So, i got my package hand delivered hehe. But i agree with on what the other siad about it.
Just play dumb when they ask you, if you buy the package not. If they know its was bought just don't tell them the true price. Since they just force you to pay for the sale price you got your item from...
Last, we all know what the Phillipine post office is....
BTW, if you got it from bigbadtoysotr or any other online store, can youstill clame it as a "gift"? Also, if ordering online, Can ou choose on what form of delivery you can choose? last, Are the other mail servis providers ex: fexdex and UPS, "charge" the same thing like, Snail mail. Also, is it safer and hassle free? as in, delivery and stuff like, door to door, first class mail? Thanks.

this is how they compute taxes:
deemed value of time + shipping = X amount
30% customs tax of X amount + 10% VAT + 10% some other i dont remember..
total of all 3 above = amount you have to pay..
the trick is to declare low value for your parcel maybe US$20 toy only etc to avoid being bitten by "lacostes" hehehe..
just make suhol.. wala ka na choice..

this is how they compute tax..
deemed item price + shipping = X total
total amount to be paid as tax = 30% of X total + 10% VAT + 10% another item i forgot what..
my suggestion is you just make under d table payment. no choice..

For FEDEX, DHL, UPS and the likes, amount over US$100.00 you will get tax Happen to me 3 times or more with my purchase from Amazon.com. . So now I have all my orders (bbts, entertainment earth, ebay... all ship to my friend in CA, USA. and then have her ship everything to me in a Balikbayan box. ;D thanks for the info. ^_^ so my best ( In irrony) is still snail-mail. or there's a better option ( if la kang kamag anak in other countries)

EMS is faster than snail mail. if snail could deliver your ordinary mail and small packages in three days, EMS could do it overnight. im not so sure about bigger packages such as a box of toy
