Hello minna-san. I had a BIG PROBLEM yesterday. Hope everyone will give me some advice. I order Gundam Strike Freedom and Destiny Gundam from Japan to my friend working in Tokyo. He bought the items last month and deliver it via "snail mail", he never know that EMS service is fast and more accurate because its the 1st time he send package here in the Philippines. And he pay all the tax and the shipping cost. Last monday, there's a notice came to my office saying there's a package arrived yesterday. I know that's my stuff that came from Japan. So i went there during break, when i got in that place i go to Window 1 which is where all the packages store. I gave my IDs for verification. Then he get my item inside the room. When he got my item, he opened it just for inspection...burara pa nga eh.. mukhang tinamaan yung box ng cutter eh. Anyway, after he opened it checked the item. He called his some sort of boss blah, blah, blah. And told him it's a toy. Oohh.. so? Then the boss told me this "Eto ba yung binubuo? Magkano ba dito itong toy na ito?" "Sabi ko around 1.5k sir" then he sit to his chair and do some computation. Then after a few minutes, he gave me this unofficial receipt but i didn't pay him for a while. When i saw the receipt, there's a lot of payables to pay. And i had to pay P1,400 for the items. I stunned. I thought i should pay for about a hundred or two plus 30 pesos. Di ko muna kinuha kasi biglaan eh. Dala ko lang is around 300. They give me 1 month. Sabi ko balikan ko na lang itong item when i get the money. . d**n. Anyway, anyone experience like this one? Or ganito talaga ang price nya pag dumating yung item galing sa ibang bansa? Please i need your help..... Ive scanned the receipt for the reference.

Maybe we can ask Malvin if that's a real computation for custom taxes.

Naku, makiki sabat na rin ako dito...I bought a Takara Optimus Prime 20th Anniv, Red Alert and Smoke Screen from www.bigbadtoystore.com via the internet. Binayaran ko yun via credit card. Then, 2 weeks later, dumating nga via EMS pero final notice na binigay. Nuong pinuntahan ko siya, siningil nila ako 100% nuong value (P12K)...anak nang ***** talaga, inaway ko sila kaso eh singkapal nang simedarby mga mukha nuon...ayun, hinde ko na alam nangyari...isang taon na nakalipas, pero la pa rin nagagawa...baka meron nga may alam how to help people like us...bakit pati wala sila ceiling or matrix of the prices for goods like these? Kaya naman humihirap ang Pinas eh...I sympathize with you, jcab@nime!

Hirap na ba sila ngayon? Charging the same cost as the item itself? Anyway, 30 pesos lang dapat. Kahit na galing sa Tibet pa yan. In your case, it's a lose-lose situation. If you get it, you'll lose money; leave it, and they'll enjoy it for you. Was it indicated as a "gift"? Makiusap ka na lang....ok na yung 300 mo. That's if you're agreeable to "under the table" sort of thing.

this almost happened to me once. i was at the post office wait to pick up my item. there was a guy ahead of me who had a package delivered from pampangga. take note pampangga lng ha. the contents were a pair of brand new slippers, a plastic fishing toy and some bundled clothing (probably a gift for his kid or something). then the guy computed the taxes etc. and came up asking the guy for 1k!!! th eguy was furious. kc nga naman the stuff he was to pick did not even cost more than php500. when it was my turn i was sweating like a pig kc i knew the item i was to pick up cost around 2K so pano p kaya d b? thank god that my package didn't have the item's price on it and i played dumb on how much i spent. they let me off by just paying the php30 pick up fee.
that got me to thinking that maybe all this is just a hoax or something to get some extra cash for their pockets. i mean if the government really required us to pay for extra charges then they wouldn't be letting some of us go free without paying much since that would mean they would be paying for us. am i not right? hahanapan sila ng pera eh, kun talagang kelangan magbayad ng charges.

Yup, actually kausap ko sa YM ngayon itong nagpadala sa akin and he said nakalagay sa box na "2 TOYS, NOT FOR SALE" He considered it as a gift. Galit na galit nga rin sya for what happened eh...sa custom natin ha.

d**n, the next time Im sending that package, I wont send it through snail mail... I feel that its all my fault in the first place (I forgot to send it through EMS, and thought that I could TRUST the Philippine Post Office)... I mean, OK! wow the package got there all right, but why the h*** would they charge it that much!? This is just very frustrating... im really sorry for venting my anger here, I just thought that it would be a good warning for other guys who wants to send something to the philippines... jcab, my apoplogies the package was sent as a "gift"... I believe they dont have a right to pump the price that high... well, this is a lesson learned... and it will be remembered edit: hindi nakasulat ung "not for sale" dun jcab, the service lady just asked me if i was sending it as a gift... and i said yes...

To Jcab: Never declare any value for your item. Even if they ask you a hundred times. Maintain your ignorance and just tell them it's a gift.
