very well said, viper! i'm also married (for quite some time now, actually) and i got my wife to be supportive of my hobby. she even bought me those two busou shinki sets for christmas last year. actually, she said those were her kits. ;D i have my joes, and she has hers. hehehe
while it's ideal to find a spouse that is supportive of your hobby, i do agree with viper that it's mainly about communicating it with your spouse. let her take part in the hobby, allow her to see the magic in it so that she doesn't feel that it may become a "me or them" kind of situation.
my wife and i love to talk about things. we spend the entire morning on weekends sharing stories and talking about things while eating pancakes (which i cooked by the way). ;D most nights we stay up in bed just talking (and take note, we've been married for 10 years now). but this did not come naturally, but was a process. i love sharing hobby-stuff with her, and she sees how much i value my hobby - and now she does, too. it's because i let her into "my hobby world" and i involve her (as much as possible) in the hobby. i find ways in which she will be able to relate to the GI Joe world, like talking about the women Joes, etc.
of course, you also have to show that you are responsible for the cost of your hobby. if she sees that you are a responsible spender, then that may change her attitude towards your hobby. just remember: "know your limit, play within it." ;D
hope this helps.

Been married for a year and a half now... I'm expecting my first baby anytime this week. Would you believe I started this hobby of collecting Gundam kits after I get married. Before this, I collected anime series up until now which my wife also knows As some members posted in this thread, my wife understands though she's not interested (yet) in my hobby, as long as it doesn't gets in a way in our finaces. Right now, I'm in hibernation... but I know I'll be collecting again soon though its sometimes hard to fight the urges when new kits are coming especially this year. Hey having more than 30 kits including 11 MG and a PG is not bad right.. I had an officemate which collects zoids and building it together with his son, kinda a bonding time for them. Now that is a great possibility for all us... Don't stop collecting bro. Just manage when to buy those kits ... Good Luck...
