To those of you who spent on an MP-1, what are your thoughts on the new MP-4 Convoy with trailer? I bought an Mp-1 and I seriously feel like I was duped by takara. Still thinking long and hard about getting the MP-4 but I'm desperately hoping they will release the trailer as a single for those who bought MP-1.

Well, as far as getting an MP-4 trailer ONLY, you can try this: www.agesthreeandup.com/main.jsp?p2=shopping/product.jsp&product_id=700I just don't know if they ship outside to the US....as always. My thoughts? Heck, yeah, who wouldn't want a separate trailer for an MP-1 that I already have. Though I don't exactly have an MP-1 (it's a 20th anniv Hasbro Prime), I can relate to how frustrating it must be that a complete set suddenly shows up! Maybe it won't be so bad if the Justitoys trailer was as good as the MP-4 version....or maybe it won't be so bad if Justitoys will release a ver 2 trailer patterned after MP-4 and include a Roller! Maybe other regions weren't as fortunate like us that we have a fresh shipment of MP-1 and that the only way those other regions can get a masterpiece prime is via MP-4.... Maybe it's just a marketing scheme to make the most out of the prime mold -- what's next for MP-5? MP-2 + ultra magnus armor? But on top of everything, even if I have the 20th annive prime, I still want to get myself an MP-4!!! Just my thoughts....

I had the Hasbro MP version and the left foot comes off easily, I gues its a problem with the ball joint... the right foot does not have this kind of problem. I'm also thinking of the same thing... I'm really thinking hard on getting MP-04 because as you know it does not have a roller! I mean the marketing slogan for this MP is Perfect Convoy/Prime now how can that be without a roller? Now I'm just thinking of buying those long smokestacks to upgrade my Hasbro Prime's look to that of Takara's and simply buy the Justitoy trailer and save my money for the classics line. But then again if you have plenty of money to burn then go get one but if you already own an MP-01 then this can be a better alternative cgi.ebay.com/Transformable-mp-01-20th-Anni-Optimus-Prime-trailer_W0QQitemZ220035723430QQihZ012QQcategoryZ4696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

"duped"? you paid money, and you got a product. no injustice going on there that i can see. after all, while this new product does come with more, it costs more too.
unless you're one of those who paid 11k for his MP01. in which case, Takara still didn't dupe you... aftermarket prices are a real pain in the lug nuts.
i do like your idea of just getting the custom stacks and a JIT trailer though. less of a hassle, depending on how easily you can get em.
- last "i WOULD 'buy it all over again' for a Magnus armor-trailer though" maximal

i'm not really a fan of prime trailers as i dun like em layin around uselessly occupyin space while prime's in bot mode. maybe if they made it into powermaster/ ginrai armor then yeah its a sure buy. as for being duped, personally my mp-01 is the centerpiece of my convoy collection and still stands as the best prime ever. as for viper's foot problem: try disassembling the leg and check if ya got loose pieces or you could just have a few loose screws that need tightenin to secure that ball joint.

being an owner of the MP-01 and THS-02 G1 convoy, i find it "collectively unfeasible" to purchase the MP-04.
for double the price of the original MP-01, i get a "same old" convoy and a trailer that isnt even complete - which is really an insult even to convoy fans. in terms of TF merchandise, usually put my preference factor on the robot rather than the vehicle mode. hey, in the animation the trailer just moves back and hides while convoy goes around leading his bots, etc.
plus, i believe the "roller" unit would come out something like a limited, mail-order or convention exclusive item - whichever takara finds fit to release it.
in relation to zephon and alex's replies, i'd get the trailer if it was something special - like converting magnus to his full form or god ginrai (super is already cool for me). but thats just too far... and i belive the THS line would come out first with that concept.

Same here dude, mine got it on the first release, after MP-4 introduced, I felt insulted by the way Takara did. They should have made the trailer as an "add-on" to the MP-1 not putting it as a whole package. For MP-1 owners like me, another waste of money just to buy the whole set.

I will surely try it this weekend ;D As for MP-04. I made up my mind and came up with "Poor man's version of MP-04... sort of." I'm buying those custom long smokestacks and the 2nd version of Justitoys trailer. ;D ;D ;D Anyway I'm happy with THS-02 G1 Convoy and I wonder... will we ever see a hybrid version of Starscream? Hope so.

we'll that's a possibility. Companies always want to make more money. Just as you know, there are 6 DVD versions of X-MEN III Last Stand : Widescreen, Full screen, Collector's Edition, Collector's Tin, Wal-Mart bonus DVD and the triple-pak now that's really crazy. No wonder Vista has that many versions. hehehehehe.

It ain't too bad in my humble opinion. Yeah I know it can be pretty frustrating and upsetting to find out that they would come out with an optimus w/ trailer after spending hard earned cash on the MP-01, but at least there's a prime out there for sale with an official trailer and pretty much most of what should be in it (as everyone knows by now, roller ain't included). I actually sold my U.S. version of the MP-01 to subsidize the cost of getting the MP-04 so that I wouldn't be stuck with two optimuses.

I would prefer to get the MP-01 over the MP04. I don't really like the trailer.

its pretty much natural for companies to make more profit for less expense - in a toy/hobby company's case - exploitation of the mould.
mould fabrication is horribly expensive - as some would cost millions upon the complexity and detail it has. so, in order to "break even" with the cost of mould fabrication, usually companies think of various ways on how to do it.
yamato makes it: using the a main 1/48 VF-1 body, they can churn out variants with little changes - different head designs per variants, different colors, etc.
bandai makes it: like the same way yamato does it, but with a lot more "finesse" - customized colors per pilot, chrome coating versions, special decal versions, con-exclusive, etc.
takara/tomy makes it: although not that obvious (just yet) black convoy, liger zero and its various armors, etc.
of course, lets not forget variants with special figures, etc, etc. which makes it worth slaving/purchasing by us... heh.

I have no plans getting MP04. I display Prime in his robot mode so why bother with one that has his trailer?
