Yup. You guys read right. Bootleg collection I actaully have original Gundams but they're in pampanga and the Series line is the 1/100 Endless Waltz line.
It's kind of lonely here in Cebu with nothing to do and nothing to watch (I have no TV in my room) and all I do all day is sleep
So when I had my day-off last Monday I was able to go around . At Metro Department Store in Ayala center Cebu i found these 4 great kits of 1/100 Gundams. Namely Force Impulse Gundam, Providence, Blitz and Dual Assault Shroud.
I was amazed at first because they cost P4++ in their original non-sale price. Their on sale now and now cost P376.80! Mas naging mura pa!
I didn't pay much attention to them at first but 1 box was open and I peeked inside. I was surprised because the quality is good. it looks like a real genuine Bandai Gundam
I didn't buy them at first (big mustake because I wasn't able to sleep that night thinking of the Gundams) So the very next they I came back and bought them! ;D
A quite amusing thing is that only a few steps away, tey have the original Force Impulse Gundam on the Gundam Display stand. The price of the orig? P1,7++! Makes me really happy that I got these for for P1,508.00!
Now to the thread proper The very first Bootleg Gundam that I was supposed to build was Force Impulse but unfortunately, there were 3 colors that the toy company omitted in painting the Force Impulse. So i skipped it first and built Providence instead.
Kit: 1/100 Tianyi Zhanshi (my goodness, namilipit yata dila ko aka Providence Gundam)
Maker: Little White Dragon Company
Price: P376.80
The Box
As much as I can tell, the box is as probably big as the orig Bandai Version. Very nice too. Of course you wouldn't see any Bandai or the real Gundam name on the box Instead they have the name Tianyi Zhanshi printed...cute
You'll get of couse one set of instructions and the parts attached to the individual sprues.
The Sprue Parts
I used to build Gundams as stated above and this bootleg is really something. It looks like the real deal. LW Dragin really did a job on this Providence.
Bandai and Little White Dragon molded the sprues in color except in LW DRagon's case, if a certain sprue contained more than one colore, they mold it in black and then spary the small parts containing the diferent colors.
Sprue A contained 3 different colors. The dominant color parts of the sprue is black so they molded the entire sprue in black and then colored the smaller parts in yellow and blue.
Building the Tianyi Zhanshi
Well, building the Tianyi Zhanshi was quite...well, lets just say that almost 85% of the parts fitted perfectly. Some parts expecially the nobs had to be pruned in order to fit holes that sre slightly smaller. It is a bootleg of course hehehe so it can't be perfect but if I'm not mistaken, bandai also had this problem of non-fitting parts.
I used my handy Nipper and emery board to cut and shave the excess fillings of the parts hehehe! Pang pedicure talaga
The Finished Product
When I finshed the Gundam, I'm really amazed at the quality. it's really nice. The polly caps were tight, unlike my Gundam Epyon and Nataku that had freaking loose joints.
Tianyi Zhanshi was very rigid standing and the polly caps were holding tight.
Here's the finished product, straight out of the box Gundam with no modifcations. You guys be the judge for you self
Front
Back
One slight imperfection is that I can't seem to put the yellow thingy smack into the helmet as seen here on Tianyi Zhanshi's head pice. I'll try to fix it more thoroughly in the coming days.
Slight paint defects on the yellow color on the chest.
Tianyi Zhanshi in mimicking the Box Art
Summary:
As much as possible I would buy origs but being on a tight budget and not really into Gundams, these guys are a real find. Makes me want to collect the other 2 bad guys missing hehehe!
I hope you guys liked my review. I'll be making the other 3 in the next few days hehehe! ;D I'll also be panel lining this guy ans making more adjustments. Let's see what happens then.
On a side note, they were also selling 1/144 Kits but the parts were in one color only so I passed.
