I'll try to answer your question. Modding gundam heads (or plastic models, in general) require: 1) Planning 2) Pick the right tools and materials 3) Modifying that lil' bugger! Probably the hardest part because you have to kick yourself in the right direction and force yourself to tear into a kit that usually costs more than one's budget for food for a month. 4) Post the results here in the forums for other people to gawk at, drool over, worship, or even brutally criticize. 5) profit! (For gundam heads, I think they just use the stock heads and rework them with polystylene and putty and just shape the modifications with hobby knives and sandpaper. in some cases, modelers make duplicate molds of the head so they have something to work with while the original stays intact.) These are all based on observation, though. The most I've modded on a kit would probably be fixing an LED into an HGUC ZAKU II and scratchbuilding and shaping a new GM head out of molded epoxy putty...

depends what you need... you can kitbash or create new parts using plaplate or junk parts from previous kits... and then there's epoxy putty to make one-off piece and add onto the existing part to change profile/size/ etc. there were the mook called How to Build Gundam by HJ and How to Scratchbuild Gundam several years ago in Japan... to name a few... Question on "plaplate" : where could we get styrene sheets locally here in the Philippines, specifically Cebu, and Luzon for that matter? TIA

depends where you put the thing. If you see my HGUC GM Light Armour WIP I used the scrap 1mm pla-plates where I make its shoulders.

I'm not sure what the rods are called exactly but I think I know how they're done: stretched sprues. Also, for those recessed areas, it may be done one of two ways: (a) carve it out using hoby knife or dremel (b) pre-cut plaplates or putty applied in layers

regarding the modifications.. you can also cut out certain parts in order create a new look.. not necessarily cutting it with a scissor.. most preferrably is by using a cutter.. ;-)

Is there any available Master Grade manipulators (hands) somewhere?
