guys i tried something new today. my friend had this invention of his. (he said he made it himself) its used to cut stryro. it sorta burns the thing. i tried it with sprues this morning. it sliced the thing like butter. and what i liked about this is that it did not change the color of the plastic. no white thing on the end. needs practice though. very painful if you hit the wire

well the wires run electricity. but will not kill you. not unless you lick the wires. if you get the hang of it, its ok. im planning to use it on some kits that i dont intend to paint. will post pics of the outcome. that will work. but very dangerous. and more time consuming i guess.

sounds like your friend made a styrofoam cutter. this can be bought from educational supply stores or National bookstore i think. props to your friend for making a home made version.

go try other hardwares im they'll have one:D as for me an ameteur i only use "nail cutter" since it's cheaper and 2 in 1 you can use it to your kit and same way in your nails hahahah hehehe If you really wanted to have a budget in building model kits nail cutters and an ordinarry side cutters will do. I've been using the same thing those nail cutters really comes in handy at all it also comes in with filler by the way ... I used an ordinary side cutter to cut off in their sprues ....

hi guys, i'm just starting out with gundam model kits. i bought recently a bootleg to practice before i buy bandai. i use a diagonal cutter for big cuts and an ordinary nipper to trim the excess, i just notice i always get white marks on the plastic after cutting and its horrible and i dont want that to happen in a bandai kit.
is there something wrong with the way i cut? is it the quality of the plastic of the bootleg? do i need some other side cutters?
forgive my ignorance, any tip from you masters would really be appreciated. Thanks ^_^
