I haven't tried it yet but you could ask the guy in Tamiya who usually works on the RCs. He may know.

i remember asking the same concept before. and i can't remember if it's answered. my concern on the gold paint job used in Gold Frame Amatsu before on display at SMmakati. any advice on industrila paints for gold? i don't like the RJ golds. the glitter effect shows too much. would Mr.Color brand is better for metallics? TIA.

As far as hydraulics goes, I haven't tried it yet. For a gold colored kit, I would spray a base coat of chrome silver then clear yellow on top.

why not?! i use tamiya enamel chrome silver a lot on g-kits. look at the left arm and shoulder binder on this pic: and the boosters on this pic: and on this pic i used Copper (not sure exact model. will have to verify again). i dont like the copper though. too intense.

For small parts, I would hand paint them too.

Tamiya Acrylic Chrome silver is water-based (personally I use denatured alcohol instead of water. hehe). Have you guys ever opened your empty/spent spray canisters? I opened a couple of my empty Tamiya Primer cans and I found 2 small glass beads in it (agitator). I cleaned them off with Pinesol and I now use them as agitators in my Tamiya acrylics. ;D

id also like to know if its ok to use an industrial type of a thinner for thinning Tamiya based Acrylic paints, those tamiya thinners are quite expensive ..
i tried hand brushing some hydraulics and w/o a thinner its really hard.. the paint is too thick..

There's no difference between the local thinner and Tamiya thinners according to sir r2d2t2. And I saw in his tutorial, that he's using a Local thinner only. ;D
