Mixed reaction bros. If your a fan of the past movies (superman 1 and 2...throw away 3 and 4 please.), then the movie is very entertaining. If your a comicbook fan boy (like yours truly), be prepared to be slightly disappointed.
As far as Superhero movies are concerned, this one flies short of a speeding bullet. But overall, well worth your money especially the flying and action sequences.
Man, I can't wait for Spidey 3. By far the most accurate and best movie of all time,(Yes, MOVIE of all time).

Well, it's an adaptation right? As long as the story is good and the whole thing was well-made, okay lang. When I usually watch comic to movie movies, I try not to compare them too much to the comics but thanks for the tip bro.

No prob. It's an okay movie. But after what Sam Raimi did for the Spiderman movies, you just can't help but to expect a lot especially from Superman, right. Spiderman raised the bar soooo high that other superhero movies are having a difficult time to catch up.
On that note I give you my top 5 perfectly executed Superhero movies of all time:
5) Tie: The Crow and Blade 1 4) Batman Begins 3) X-men United 2) Spiderman 1 1) Spiderman 2

hi! I just saw Superman Returns last night with my wife at Glorieta and all I can say is that this movie is normal and nothing's super about it. I'm quite disappointed. Brandon as supes is great but I don't know if it's just me or sometimes when you look at his face it's as if it was rendered by a computer or just bad make-up? He sometimes looks fake. Kate Bosworths great as Louis Lane as well as Kevin Spacey. Also, that Indian guy, Kumar I think... did utter any line what so ever he he he. And why it is always that briliant men always stick to lame, stupid and no-brainer women? -- Speaking about lex luthor and his gal here.

Personally, I liked the movie. I was able to buy 3 burger king whoppers for only P200 bucks (ayala cinemas' promo.) My girlfriend and I liked it a lot. Next in line for us: Pirates of the Carribean.

The movie was good but i have props and slops: SLOPS: the S shield on his chest is too small i hate the S shield on the belt and on the soles of the boots the way the cape is attached to the costume makes his shoulders too rounded some scenes are a bit too dragging and it wasn't as good as the Spiderman movies. PROPS: Kevin Spacey played a great Luthor! Kate Bosworth did a good job as Lois Brandon Routh's performance when Superman got beat up was great. Oh, Superman 3 and 4 weren't too hot either.

IMHO, the movie was playing more at nostalgia for old school fans than actually pleasing a whole new slew of Superman movie fans (it was successful none-the-less). This movie was more like a take on the original Superman movie. Besides, it was hinted that this is possibly the first of several Superman movies to come out in the future. So, the 'stuff' that some people are looking for may not be there.....yet. I wouldn't call the Spidey movies 'accurate' mind you since there were a lot of creative changes and freedom on the plot and story, since the first movie.

Being both a comic book and movie fan, i think one cannot (and should not ) compare both mediums directly... i enjoyed the movie as much as i read superman comic books... i agree that there are highs and lows in the film but overall, i think it was great. laughingman is right, Brian Singer said in the recently released DVD, Look Up in the Sky: The Amazing Story of Superman (pls. see upper right dvd on pix below), that the very first thing he decided on is that he wanted to make a tribute to the Christopher Reeve Superman Movies. I placed the box office numbers in the movie thread some time back... but this does not include superman returns... In that list, Spiderman (the first movie) currently is the highest selling (in terms of dollar value) superhero movie of all time... but more than dollar value, ticket sales is the more accurate measure since we know that movie tickets now are much, much more expensive than ten years (or twenty years) ago... As far as Spiderman being the most accurate Superhero movie... i totally disagree with this... Sam Raimi changed so much in the movie... from the top of my head; 1) Spiderman's origin was different (bio-engineered red and blue spider?) 2) Spiderman growing those things in his fingers 3) Web-shooters? 4) Green Goblin's armor 5) Steel Cage match with Bonecrusher? 6) Venue of Uncle Ben's death 7) Green Goblin dropping Mary Jane from the bridge... that's supposed to be Gwen Stacy's death dive? ...the list continues to Spiderman 2... even Spiderman 3's teasers hinted that it will be different from the comic book... Gwen Stacy finally appearing... abilities and features of the symbiote... etc.. edit: forgot to mention this... superman returns has solid but unimpressive box-office figures ... as of July 15, it currently has $195,727,786 worldwide sales.. Yeah, there have been debates as to whether the "$260M" cost included the "scrapped projects" from previous attempts to revive the franchise(including the pre-production stuff that Tim Burton and Nicolas Cage did), some reports(supposedly from enterntaiment magazines) say the "$260M" includes the scapped projects, some say it doesn't(I read it off the Newsrama "Superman Returns" forums). Anyone have any idea? Currently Superman has yet to reach the $200M mark in ticket sales in the U.S.(from the last 3 weeks Superman Returns has only grossed $163M so far). With the premier of Pirates of the Carribbean 2:Dead man's chest coming out strong (it earned $135M+ on it's first three days!!! Shattering the record set by Spiderman 2 in 2002, Spidey 2 earned $114M at that time), I think it'll be tough competition at the box office. Incredibly, Pirates 2 has currently earned $258M in just 10days!! Wow.. Here's the lineup for the box office sales in the U.S. from last weekend 1) Pirates 2 - $62.2M 2) Little man -$21.7 M 3) You Me and Dupree -$21.3M 4) Superman Returns - $11.6M 5) The Devil wears Prada - $10.5 M 6) Cars- $7.5M 7) Click -$7 M 8) The Lake House -$1.6M 9) Nacho Libre -$1.5M 10) A Scanner Darkly - 1.9M(??) source : news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060717/ts_alt_afp/afpentertainmentfilm_060717134156And here's a funny clip on Superman Returns crew's response to the Pirates 2 hit at the box office. Hehe is it me or did Bryan Singer kind of choke? I'm not sure if this was edited though. us.video.aol.com/video.index.adp?mode=1&pmmsid=1676445Gold
