I saw the trailer. It does not do Dragonball any justice at all.

According to a YouTube review from Japan they liked it for the comedy... - sarcasm ;D Although it's not as bad as they thought it would be... but it's remains to be seen... Spoiler AlertThis is one movie you will not enjoy if you keep thinking it's Dragonball... prepare however to ingest cheesy and really old lines like "the only rule is; there are no rules" and a constant repetition of "dragonball" throughout the rest of the movie. If you think there's no other film in the theaters when this thing is shown, just make sure you tone down your expectation from 10 to 1 because unlike the Transformers a few years back, this movie will make you feel less than satisfied. The good, you get to see the Saiyan side of Goku but a quarter of the size. The bad, if I got it right it would sound like Goku's Saiyan side is Piccolo's pet of destruction in this movie... And the reason why the Anime News Network mentioned "no explanations" is probably the production thinking that the audience will pick-up some ideas from the real dragonball storyline... really? I guess they also missed the fact that the dragonball series was loosely based on the "Journey to the West" tale. And this movie is so serious I wanted to see the "I wish for a panty" scene ;D which was obviously not gonna be in this movie... Oh and they are expecting to have a sequel as suggested in the last scene... In the end though I think at least it's not a Van Damme Street Fighter... there's a lot to enjoy just don't think it's Dragonball even if they repeat that all the time in the dialog. It's bad enough to waste 150 to 160 for a ticket in Megamall, but watching this in 3D Cinema? Even against my better judgment, I'd suggest "Monsters vs. Aliens" in 3D is a bigger treat than Dragonball. Anyhoo, watch at your own risk... I give this movie 1/5 as Dragonball... as a no other movie to watch and ignoring the title namesake 2/5
