Another dilemma. I just acquired an Exia R2 Metallic Version. Currently having some problem with those ugly sprue marks. Is it possible to remove or minimize those markings in a pearl gloss-ish colored part?

ugh....that's really a problem with pearl, gloss or metallic coated kits.... there's no real solution to that unless you strip the coating altogether. i personally avoid those kits because of that. here's a couple of solutions that i've heard people utilized: 1. a metallic ink pen of the same color is used to coat the sprue mark. 2. strip the coating then repaint. 3. leave as is and just accept that they're there. maybe a few others who've had more experience with them could add to these.

Hm. I'll go with the 3rd one, I guess. Got no problems with seeing ugly sprue marks anyway. And they're really small so no problem.

I too avoid those special editions because of those annoying situations that will require moolah to fix properly... As per the solutions you listed: 1. Here's a trick for those who really want to do this the hard way... If available, get an enamel or acrylic metallic/pearl finish in neutral color and the color of the plastic you will need to achieve, Mix and match, mix and match, mix and match until you get the right consistency, Chances are you can get the same color or something close to it, the most annoying are those colors that are so specific you have to mix more than 3 to get it right, Apply with a small brush preferably # 1 and aviod the colored areas as it could give of a darker hue,
You can also apply an acrylic metallic paint on the area, let it dry then apply enamel clear color (red, blue, etc.) over it until you achieve the right color or something close to it,
Why different types of paint? Because this will avoid the unnecessary setback of the other paint reacting to the new paint... 2. Why bother getting a special edition when you'll just strip it off it's uh "specialness"... ? ;D 3. Right On, just muster all your modeler powers, remove that part in a clean fashion and remove the excess plastic as slowly as possible without disturbing the surrounding finish. This can take longer but you can make those marks disappear. Btw, pearl gloss finish can be painted over with super clear paint to level it out... metallics will need more work...

Gane - The pearl gloss of Exia R2's white parts are easily camouflaged using clear paint. Tried it a while ago. The problem now are the metallic blue ones. I managed to minimize the damage to a great extent (miraculously...). I'll try out a marker first since it's near the color of its' armors.

good for you...
I don't know if they have it or if it's available locally but the metallic marker should do the trick just fine...
just in case... try the marker on spare plastic of the same color to make sure the result isn't darker then what you want.

A quick question:
Anybody know where I can get extra polycaps or joints like those made by Kotobukiya?
Some projects need polycaps and joints. Polycaps from fake kits are too hard, could probably melt (in time) and become brittle and break.
Thanks in advance...
Mods, I know the post will not update the thread thus I wrote a new post even if I own previous one. Hoping for your kind consideration... thanks.

Ganethere are but not the same as those included in the kits..and it'll took a month or two before shipping..they don't ship individual orders of parts..only by bulk..and when I say bulk, I mean at least 10 persons ordering the same parts..

What are the pros and cons between Robot Damashii figures and Revoltech figures? And what are your opinions of each?

revoltech are more "anime-ish" in design and proportions. they have great accessories and details but they also suffer from bad QC.
rd are more of lineart-ish. they have better QC compared to revos but they also lack detailing like panel lines and such.

spardamani think looking at thier line-up will give you the idea what are thier pros and cons..they're not the same from manufacturer and toyline.. RD are mostly gundams and mobile suits bandai created..they are mostly bandai's animes if you look closely...mostly mechas as well.. Revoltech on the other hand focuses more on animes that are like my viewers..they focus mostly of animes that most people watch..they're more on human side but they're creating a large variety of mechas now.. there aren't really pros and cons since both toyline has different items to offer..try both to see which one you'll consider buying though I know you'll be forced to buy both..if you like gundams, go for RD, if you like Super Robot mechas, go for revoltech..

Yes, well...I got a new arbalest revo and i was surprised that the paint chips off easily. I had to do some quick repainting to the torso part since the paint there got easily scraped off.

I had to do some quick repainting to the torso part since the paint there got easily scraped off. expect those in small figures..it's normal even in RD's..revo's trying to put the most detailed paint job on thier figs to picture what it really looks like in the anime so paint chips are just normal.. I like the RD's but when I found out that bandai didn't made the forehead of the 00 kits clear, I dropped the idea on getting the 00 RD line..even some revos have issues mostly on the neck joints..some neck looks awkward in some revos..

I was also considering getting RDs but because of the price, I had to settle for Revos which are also quite impressive. I didn't really realize though that RDs also have some paint chipping until now.
