Out in July, the SRC Gunbuster "Effort and Guts" Weapons pack. The cape ("Buster Shield") can also be attached to: -SRC Mazinger Z / Shin Mazinger Z - SRC Gurren Lagann - SRC GunBuster - SRC Grendizer But NOT SRC Great Mazinger supposedly... Also, Shin Getter 1's release date is August. With an (increased) SRP of 7100+ Yen (old SRP was 4500-6000 Yen roughly) ... makes one wonder if there's anything special for the price hike or if this is the new norm for all upcoming SRCs.... Gold

Saw this over on Facebook : So it's definitely taller than Shin Maz, So maybe it's around 6 -6.5 Inches? The SOC Getters are around 6-6.5" So while ideally, the Shin should be a 7", at 6-6.5" it isn't too bad IMHO, sure beats a measly 5". Plus glow in the dark parts. Woot. Edit: Better pics from the Tamashii Web page. tamashii.jp/item/10366/Crossover joint gimmick still in play. Gold

Slightly OT, but I came across these images from the latest Bandai Tamashii Nations. New Soul Effects parts, they're intended for SHF figures but they would work with SRCs/SOCs too I believe. Bandai is a marketing genius! Act Steps Act Impact Act Flame Act Explosion Credits go to Cybergundam blog for the pics. Gold

Review updates. Super Robot Chogokin Reideen the Brave God Block God Break God Gogun (parts swapping required for the Gogun). God Bird Parts swapping required Reideen has extra "feet" included for God Bird mode, the feet (right) are slightly more angled. Remember when folks used to hate why the SOC Reideen's legs were plastic? Well, here's an example of what would happen if it were diecast. The legs are too heavy and would tip the whole thing backwards. In fairness though, the SRC Reideen is more cartoon accurate when it comes to God Bird mode, they even included the rear leg covers to make it look more spot on. Something that is missing from the SOC version. Comparison with Soul of Chogokin Reideen. Diecast parts include: -Sections of the torso -Lower legs (feet are plastic) -Not sure about the main joints if they're diecast ( forgot to check) SRC Reideen weighs about 121 Grams (SOC Reideen is 251, more than double). FATAL FLAW ALERT!!![/COLOR] Even though the box is sealed, down to the tray packaging and the package was wrapped in plastic when I bought it from the store, this is what greeted me when I opened it. Rusting on the arrow!!! I'm fairly sure this is from the factory, perhaps a reaction from the glue used on the arrow tips? Or simply some factory worker's sweaty fingertips ? The Reideen and the chromed weapons are all good and shiny though. Anyone else encounter this? I've managed to gently remove 90% of the rust by rubbing it off with WD40 and coarse tissue towels (thank goodness), but there's still blackened spots where the rust originated. Sigh... d**n.. Overall, this figure is still pretty sweet (if you can get one without the rusty arrow), but I'm not sure where to place him, since Reideen is supposed to be big, I guess he'll end up arbitrarily somewhere far from the SOCs on my shelf one day. With the Face Rock accessory from SOC Reideen the Brave. I find the SRC looks better next to the Mountain, but I think the SOC one is the right official scale for it. Gold

Super Robot Chogokin God Reideen For those curious about God Reideen, he's a character from Reideen the Superior (Chouja Reideen) and is the final enemy. The God Reideen was created by the ancestors of the Human Reideens and used to seal away the Super Demon race, it's resurrected in modern day and under the control of the Super Demon Lushu and devastates Shinjuku and several other major cities. It first appears in Episode 25 (total series run was 38 episodes). The God Reideen reappears again in the final 2 episodes of the show (set a year after the events of episode 29) with the intent of destroying the Earth, to purge all "evil". God Block God Break God Gogun God Voice God Bird mode requires swapping the helmet. Unlike Reideen the Brave, this one can stand pretty well in God Bird mode, despite having diecast legs. Comparison with SRC Reideen the Brave Funfact: During the course of battle, the God Reideen morphs his colors to black in the Anime, similar to the color scheme of the exclusive SRC figure. Diecast parts include : - The lower legs (front part only) - Sections of the torso Sad to say, I find this one to be the worst SRC release ever. The joints (shoulders and groin) were ridiculously floppy, plus getting the God Reideen to hold the God Arrow pose is a chore. It took me about half an hour to get the pose right (the joints kept sagging on me) It totally killed the experience for me. I don't know if this is just limited to my unit though. Gold

Super Robot Chogokin Enryu and Hyoryu Hyoryu Enryu After a long wait, Bandai releases the first set of "twins" from the King of Braves Gaogaigar series. Hyoryu and Enryu. From what I understand Hyoryu is the older brother (code: GBR-2) . He is the calm and calculating one amongst the two. Hyoryu comes with his Freezing Ray gun. Enryu is the younger (code: GBR-3), hot-headed brother. As such, he is the exact opposite of his twin brother in terms of personality. Enryu comes with his Mirror Shield. The shield comes with 2 ports, one for holding, one for plugging into Enryu's back (requires removal of his ladder first). Enryu's gun is called the Melting Gun. Bandai also included the Pencil Launcher accessories. These appeared briefly in the Anime, the pencils shoot streams of super adhesive glue, for various purposes. The brothers also use their ladders as rifles (Melting Rifle and Freezing Rifle) Height comparison (I'll add GGG next time when we have the full team) Part 2 of the Big Order Room When the bots are seated, there's no need to use the "hydraulic lift" as they will have trouble fitting in. I think the lift is just for Volfogg. The table's height is perfect, for when the bots are standing or sitting. The Good-I love the fact that Bandai included optional "open mouth" faceplates. Also, the open palms have added space so you can tip the hand all the way back so it can hold the rifle. Smart thinking! -Diecast parts include: -Internal joints -Knee joints -Elbow joints -Torso -Lateral sides of the lower legs -Feet -Each figure weighs 134 Grams. The Bad-A downside to the set is that their ultimate attacks (Chest Thriller and Chest Warmer) are not included. Their chest plates don't open. -Another downside is that the ladders on the backs of the twins are supposed to be able to used as Tonfas, like in the Anime, but I don't think it's possible here (sorry, I have to recheck this). -Plain, regular colors on the brothers is way different from the metallic finish on ChoRyuJin. The UglyCan't find a single thing that sticks out as a deal breaker with this set. Heck, even the price is awesome, roughly $40 for a two pack, with a table and chairs??? Overall, dare I say, a perfect set. Definitely worth what I paid for and more. A way better purchase than the SRC Reideens. The color disparity between the brothers and the metallic finish of Choryujin might be an issue for some folks, but it doesn't really bother me that much. The Twin Dragons - Hyoryu and Enryu Gold

Super Robot Chogokin Grendizer Extendable ankle joint. To help Grendizer pull of excellent poses. I have to say I’m really impressed with how Bandai worked out a way to make the Screw Crusher fins work around the elbows. Great engineering thinking here IMHO. Hand Beams! (Would’ve been nice if we had some sort of effects parts here) Screw Crusher Punch! I’m not 100% sure, but I seem to remember in one episode, Grendizer used the Screw Crushers as melee weapons, instead of shooting them at an opponent. Please correct me if I’m wrong on this. Space Thunder Lol… this made me laugh when I took the pic. Double Harken! Since we’ve yet to see a final prototype for the Spacer, here’s SRC Grendizer with the GX-04S Spacer. Fits right in, no leg shafting required. The lock doesn’t rub or do damage either. (Apologies, I didn’t detach the Spin Saucer blades from the tree from my GX-04S set and for this shot I didn’t feel like digging up the regular GX-04 for them, just try to ignore the large black undersides of the saucers. ) Group shots fun. Double Lightning Buster! Triple Mazinger Blade! Punches in bunches Boy, I’d hate to be on the receiving end of that. Imagine the terror on General Dark’s face when he realizes the last thing he will ever see is 6 fists flying at him at the same time. Size and weight comparisons With the GX-04S With the Revoltech Grendizer (which reminds me, Revoltech never released a Spacer did they?) With the Chrome Metaltech 01’ Mazinger Z (128 Grams), Great Mazinger (136 Grams), Grendizer (171 Grams), Shin Mazinger Z (148 Grams) Diecast parts include: -Lower legs -Practically the whole torso -Shoulder and groin joints I thought about doing a The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly here, by honestly, I just totally love this figure. I can’t seem to find anything that disappoints me (maybe the lack of Hand Beam effects, or the lack of the foil stamps on the SRC boxes starting with Grendizer). Your mileage may vary but this one seems to be the best Grendizer figure I have. Gold
