Super Robot Chogokin Gear Fighter Dendoh A bit of history: Gear Fighter Dendoh is a series created by Mitsuo Fukuda and his wife, Chiaki Morosawa, the same duo that later created the Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny series. The show aired from October 4, 2000 to June 27, 2001 and lasted 38 episodes.
The show synopsis is as follows: One star filled night, a red light crashes down on an island in Japan, carrying with it 6 data weapons and a turquoise haired girl. Seventeen years later, "Gulfer", a machine empire out to kill all living beings and conquer the universe, plants itself an outpost on the Moon and commences attacks on the Earth. GEAR, a secret organization established to counter the Gulfer, defends Earth from this threat. Dendoh, GEAR's main fighting weapon against the Gulfer, chooses two elementary school kids named Hokuto Kusanagi and Ginga Izumo to pilot it, and with GEAR's and the 6 data weapons' help, they fight to protect the Earth from the Gulfer.
I've only heard of this mecha through the PSP game, Super Robot Taisen MX, about 3 years ago and have been a fan of the mecha ever since. Thankfully, Bandai decided to go ahead and release this within it's SRC line and to cut the long story short, I was one happy camper upon getting this one. The figure is a fateful reproduction of how the mecha looks like in the show. The paintjob is topnotch with no spill or splotch even on the tiniest details. It has diecast on the forearms, lower legs and torso while the rest of the toy is made of plastic.
The figure has 3 interchangeable heads: Dendoh Powered Down, Dendoh once activated and Dendoh with an angry expression: Watch out for the spikes on the head. They're quite sharp.
It also features a movable backpack to reveal where the batteries are shot into, the jetstream-exhaust located at the top of the backpack that opens up when Dendoh uses any of his final attacks, an extendable torso and extendable upper leg joints.
I think Bandai was really generous on this regard as they not only show that they paid attention to the small details but they even provided extra posability to boot! Yeah! Here's a size comparison between Dendoh and two other SRC's, Alteisen and Great Mazinger: Accessories-wise, Dendoh comes with 2 fists, 2 outstretched hands and 2 open expression hands, wind effect parts for the wrists and when he's in motion.
Here're some action poses for Dendoh: Dendoh.... launching! Command....Install!!!! (Dendoh's activation command shouted by both Hokuto and Ginga) Dendoh's fighting style uses a lot of martial arts moves as Ginga, one of its pilots, is a practitioner of kenpou and karate. Hissatsu Attack: Blade Strike Lightning Flash! The figure also comes with it's Data Weapon: Unicorn Drill. This is one of the 6 Data Weapons that Dendoh acquires in the series and it is a faithful rendition to its show counterpart. I wonder if Bandai will ever churn out the actual Unicorn for him in the future though. Unicorn Drive... Install! Unicorn Drill is mounted securely on Dendoh's arm via an interlocking joint on the diecast section of the figure's forearm. It's light enough that the figure's arm doesn't sag when mounted on and looks pretty good as an equipped weapon. Unicorn Drill..... Final Attack! Verdict: As I said in the opening moments of this review, I was a very happy camper when I got this. It's very show accurate, has a great paintjob, has diecast parts, can do almost all of his signature poses and moves from the show. It's very stable and poses really well even when mounted on the Stage Act 5.
The toy has lots of merits and is great either as a display piece or a play figure. It's something that I would recommend and it would be a great addition to any Super Robot fan's collection. Thanks for looking! ;D

Robot Spirits ARX-8 LaevateinnHistory: First appearing in the novel Full Metal Panic: Come Make My Day, the Laevatein is a new high-performance Arm Slave containing the Arbalest's salvaged Lambda Driver and AI system codenamed AL. The AI joined forces with Sarah Miller, the Whispered girl that Sousuke, Kurz and Mao rescued in the first episode of the animated series, to design the Laevatein and tailor it for Sousuke. While it has no ECS system unlike the Arbalest and Gernsback, the Laevatein is equipped with the "Fairy's Feather," a device that cancels all Lambda Drivers-even its own-when activated. It's weapons include a set of grenades, anti-tank daggers, a new Demolition Gun, and the Boxer II shotgun. It is extremely difficult not to like this new Side AS release from the Robot Spirits line. The Laevateinn is the successor unit to the ARX-7 Arbalest and as much as I loved its Robot Spirits rendition, I am loving this one even more.
My only problem is that I have no idea what those other shoulder pads are (I researched, believe me, and still couldn't find what they are).
Anyway, the light brown-orange take on Sagara Sousuke's new mecha is a bold take from the Arbalest's cool blue color scheme and it is well-translated here on this figure. You'll probably need to sort out the stocks however as I've seen several releases of this with a few bad paint apps so be picky when getting this one.
The Laevateinn comes with the following armaments: Anti-tank dagger - it's a pretty solid piece of plastic although I wish they'd have painted the blade differently from the hilt. Monomolecular daggers - love these things. They're like mini-swords that you can have the figure wield. And being able to mount the blades on the knees is just really cool. Boxer II Shotgun - Sagara's signature shotgun. It's about the same as the one that came with Arbalest with the exception that this one came with a removable cartridge. Crane arms - the Laevateinn has two crane arms you can mount on the chest. The arms can be used to hold the Boxer II and the Howitzer. 165mm Howitzer Cannon - large cannon that can be mounted on the back of the figure. It folds up and the barrel can be removed to reveal a smaller submachine gun. Verdict: It's a very awesome figure as I've already said. It kinda lacks the grenades and that small rocket launcher thingy that the Revo has but I'm more comfortable with the RD version. It's more posable and more stable in my opinion. If you haven't gotten a Laevateinn in the past, I'd seriously recommend this to be your first.

ugh. when will mine arrive?!?!? this is definitely more "robot accurate" compared to the revo!
how does the "hair effect" connect to the head? is the connecting peg thin that may cause breakage?

hey V2! nice to hear from you again. hope you get yours soon as this is really a very awesome figure. re: the hair, it's pre-attached to a separated piece for the back of the head. here's a reference pic from one of the online reviews: livedoor.blogimg.jp/hacchaka/imgs/4/6/46355e21-s.jpgIt's the part right below the Howitzer cannon.

Super Robot Chogokin Knight Gear Oger Knight Gear Oger is the main antagonist from the anime series Gear Fighter Dendoh. The unit is piloted by Altair, one of the most formidable pilots and commander in the Gulfer army. The unit utilizes the Data Weapon, Viper Whip, which equips on his left hand with a final attack unleashing a striking lightning attack with the snake head ravaging towards its target. Later in the series, the unit is piloted by Hokuto with which Oger now reveals a second face, much like Dendoh. Both Gear fighters would be critical in the final engagement between GEAR and Gulfer.
So here he is, the second of the two Gear robots that Bandai finally chose to release in the Super Robot Chogokin line. Oger shares many similar features to that of Dendoh with a different head and paintjob to really show the difference. Oger, though, sports a more glossy, metallic paint finish as compared to Dendoh's more anime-ish, matte finish. With his pointy visor head, the metallic scheme along with Oger's dark colours really emphasized the really bad@$$ quality of this unit.
Like Dendoh, Oger also comes with the same three head variations: Oger visor down, Oger visor up with normal expression and with angry expression. Accessories are the same for both Dendoh and Oger: two closed fists, two karate chop hands and two expression hands. Wind effects can also equip onto Oger's arms and when in motion. It also has the releasing vent accessory on the backpack for when it executes its Final Attack.
And here's a shot comparison between other SRC units: Alteisen and Great Mazinger: Oger, so far, is the tallest SRC I have to date. Not sure how he stacks up versus Shinken-Oh or Raideen though but I've heard that he's taller than them by a horn.
Articulation is the same for both Oger and Dendoh. My figure though did have a pretty loose waistjoint when I first took it out of the box. It's a small gripe for me since I like having figures with tight joints but not enough to detract me from liking this figure. Having both of them duke out it is what makes having them really fun. I just can't wait to get the additional Data Weapon set to complete this. And of course, Oger comes with his Viper Whip data weapon: Viper Drive....Install! Viper Whip.....Final Attack! As stated earlier, mid-way through the series, Oger becomes Dendoh's partner and is piloted by Hokuto. Oger then utilizes the Unicorn Drill as it's main weapon during Hokuto's run. Gear Fighter Dendoh and Knight Gear Oger partners and protectors of Earth from the Gulfer invasion! Verdict: Again, very happy camper on this release. It's show accurate, great paint app and while the accessories are just the same as that of Dendoh's, I think it's more than enough for you to enjoy the toy. If you already have Dendoh, you can't go wrong with having his arch-nemesis turned partner in your collection as well.
Oh yeah, here's a little tribute to another upcoming SRC release: Thanks for looking! ;D
