SH Figuarts Shinken Gold Character bio: Genta Umemori (梅盛 源太 Umemori Genta?) is the son of a sushi chef who mysteriously disappeared prior to the beginning of the series, and a childhood friend of Takeru's. As a child, Genta often meddled in Takeru's training, which annoyed Hikoma greatly. Genta promised to help Takeru become a samurai, and in return, Takeru entrusted him with the Ika Disk. Years later, he is shown to have inherited the Gold Zushi sushi cart and to have developed his own "Electronic Modikara", using the Sushi Changer to type the kanji needed. The other Shinkengers are initially suspicious of Genta until he makes his formal introduction as Shinken Gold. Though Takeru is reluctant at first, he eventually allows Genta to fulfill his promise and join the team. Genta considers himself Takeru's best friend, despite their personalities being complete opposites; Genta is as hyperactive and expressive as much as Takeru is reserved and stoic. When Kaoru reveals herself, Genta immediately disapproves of her because of his relationship with Takeru, but later accepts her when he sees that she is very kind. After the final battle, Genta leaves to open a restaurant with DaiGoyou in Paris. Shinken Gold is the samurai of light and is the 6th ranger to appear in the series. As with all 6th rangers, he has a unique weapon set, diversive of the initial 5 rangers.
The SHF incarnation captures Shinken Golds online appearance really well. It takes note of the small details on the chest, face, gloves and face with very well applied color scheme matching that of his true to life costume. The light kanji that forms his face, like Shinken Red, shows a bit of paint bleeds though from where the black meets the white paint but it's not really noticeable to the naked eye. Gold paint used is quite glossy making the figure appear shining. Accessories-wise, Shinken Gold is quite abundant. He comes with 2 origamis: Ika (squid) origami and Ebi (lobster) origami, 3 versions of the Sakanamaru: sheathed, unsheathed and half-sheathed, and the secret lantern Daigoyou: both Lantern shooting mode and Jitte mode (baton-type weapon) and the Sushi disk.
One thing I did find weird about the figure is that it didn't come with Genta's sushichanger cellphone. All the other Shinkengers got a version of their henshin devices so why did Genta get left out? The figure is very easy to pose and is very fluid when executing action sequences. There are no hindrances in terms of armor to limit the range in motion although it still cannot do a cross-arm pose. I find it weird that Bandai didn't include articulation on the upper shoulder. Like Shinken Red, Gold also has no diecast content on his feet but manages to be stable when standing, kneeling, sitting, etc. My figure has the upper leg joint a bit loose so it's a bit more challenging to pose him as compared to when I was doing Red's review. Fun factor-wise, this figure is loads of fun. The accessories combined with the excellent articulation provides so much opportunity to re-enact key scenes from the series plus a few fun poses as well. And it looks really good alongside his best friend as well. Hope you don't forget to pick him up if you haven't done so. In conclusion, excellent sculpt and paint, awesome articulation and accessories make this a really great addition to any SHF collection. With that, this brings this chapter to a close.

SRC The King of Braves: GaogaigarSeries Bio: The King of Braves GaoGaiGar (勇者王ガオガイガー Yūsha Ō GaoGaiGā?) is an anime television series series begun in 1997, created by Sunrise's internal "Studio 7" under the direction of Yonutsomo Yonetani, and was the eighth and final in the Yūsha metaseries funded by Takara and produced by Sunrise - Wiki Mecha Bio: Components: GaiGar (Cyborg Guy + Galeon) + DrillGao + LinerGao + StealthGao Successful result of Final Fusion between the three GaoMachines and GaiGar, vastly increasing GaiGar's power. In order for this combination to take place, the act of Final Fusion must be approved by the Chief of GGG (Kohtaroh Taiga), followed by the relevant operator (Mikoto Utsugi, or Swan White in her absence) breaking through the safety glass on her panel and hitting the button that engages "Program Drive." This begins the Final Fusion sequence, during which GaiGar creates a tornado of electromagnetic fog ("Denji Tatsumaki") that the three GaoMachines penetrate. (This fog also serves as a defense against entities from approaching GaiGar and interrupting the sequence.) The drill tank DrillGao forms GaoGaiGar's lower legs, feet and knees; The bullet train LinerGao forms its shoulders and upper arms; and the stealth bomber StealthGao forms its back wing section, lower arms, and helmet. - Wiki Broken Magnum!!! Protect Shade! Dividing Driver!!! Hell and Heaven!!! My thoughts: The figure sports great articulation, an astounding amount of detail, has everything you see in the series, can do anything that it did in the series and it's just overall a pure awesome figure to have.
A few minor gripes are that the right leg joint connecting to the crotch is loose right from the start but it still holds its place when posed. The arms pop right off the socket whenever you move it around so it was a challenge getting him into those Hell and Heaven poses. I have a small paint splotch on the lion's right mane but nothing that I really mind.
Despite these minor points, it doesn't deter anyone from enjoying this really great figure. All in all, a solid release from Bandai's Super Robot Chogokin line and this one comes highly recommended in my book!
Thanks for looking!

Here's Part 2. SRC The Key To Victory Weapon Set 1Weapon Background: Goldion Hammer
Technical name: Gravity Shockwave Generating Tool. Referred to as the "G-Tool" before its introduction (likely its code name). A gigantic hammer containing an artificial gravity well at its center that generates a "custom" shockwave, transforming all particles in contact with its striking surface into photons.
Initially, its direct handling was severely damaging to GaoGaiGar and any other machine coming in direct contact with it. This situation would only be resolved when the Hammer became incorporated into GGG's Super-AI robot Goldymarg, using the "Marg Hand" system in order to properly channel and control the Hammer's power.
Much like Final Fusion, the Goldion Hammer's use requires approval of the Chief of GGG; as an additional step, it requires the Chief to insert and turn a key bearing the authorization of the Japanese Prime Minister (for the Gutsy Galaxy Guard, this key represents the authorization of the UN Secretary General instead). This allows the operator access to a card reader, after which said operator (Mikoto Utsugi) swipes a "Gold Card" into the reader to "relieve" the Hammer's safety device. - Wiki Goldymarg!!! Goldion Hammer!!! Hammer Hell!!!! Hammer Heaven!!! Transform into Light!!!! Final Words: The Key to Victory Weapon Set 1 is just a great, great addition to an already awesome figure. The add'l weaponry pimps GGG quite well and adds an extra layer of bad@$$-ness to an already fierce mecha design.
I can't help but be impressed as to how Bandai looked into the little details surrounding Goldymarg and manifested it here in this set. I do hope they release a robot version of him in the future. A little care is to be taken with regards to removing the entry point for the nail on Goldymarg. It's wedged in quite tight and I didn't dare attempt to remove it with an external tool.
The Hammer is equally well detailed, though, was a little tough to wield using the figure. While not top heavy, it does swing around when you try to pose the figure making a lot of my shots on this really hard to pull off.
All in all, it's a great add-on set to the SRC Gaogaigar. Again, highly recommended in my book. I am definitely looking forward now to Set 2.
Thanks for looking!

Latest acquisition: Kamen Rider OOO Tajadol Combo with effect parts

SH Figurarts Kamen Rider OOO Tajadol Combo w/ Effect PartsRider Bio: Tajadol Combo, also known as the "Blazing Combo", is Kamen Rider OOO's red combination, using the powers of Ankh's Core Medals: Taka, Kujaku, and Condor, with the O Lung Circle on his chest forming the image of a phoenix. As Tajadol Combo, Kamen Rider OOO can see far distances, create energy peacock tail feathers as projectiles to throw at opponents, use the Kujaku Wings to fly, shoot streams of fire, and use the talon-like attachments of the Condor Legs. In addition, he is armed with the Taja Spinner, which can shoot fire disks. A Giga Scan can be done by replacing some of the Cell Medals in the Spinner with Core Medals, then scanning it with the O Scanner. This Combo's Scanning Charge finisher is a Rider Kick called the Prominence Drop, where after sprouting wings from the Kujaku Arms, Kamen Rider OOO flies into the air, flips around and performs a flying drop kick on the target with the Condol Legs extending its talons as he ignites. As this combo is a Super Combo, it is more powerful than any other Combos. The downside is that Tajadol Combo is even more taxing on Eiji's body, with him feeling the effects of physical strain much sooner and much more intensely than with other Combos. Taka! Kujaku! Condor! Ta-ja-do-ru! Scanning charge! Hhhhhhaaaaaaa....... Sei yahhhhhh!!! My thoughts: I love the mesh of red and black that was done on the figure. As with past SHF's, the figure is accurate to its show counterpart and sports both the Medajalibur and Taja Spinner accessories along with the usual hand assortment. I keep wondering why Bandai insists on issuing a Medajalibur for all of the combos (not sure about Shauta and Putotyra, though) considering that Tajadol didn't make use of it in the series.
If you do plan to get this, I would have to recommend that you get the Tamashii Exclusive Effect Parts set. It adds so much more fiber into the figure, making it look more vibrant and complete with the wing assortment (peacock and flying wings) plus the Prominence Drop legs. Tajadol just doesn't seem to be complete without it.
It's a recommended figure in my book. If there's one OOO combo you should get, I would have to say it's this one.
Thanks for looking! ;D

SRC Gear Fighter Dendoh Data Weapon Set Weapons Bio: The animal-like Data Weapons are the key to winning the war between Earth and the Gulfer Invasion. He who obtains all 7 data weapons will unlock the key towards limitless power.
The set contains 4 more Data Weapons (with Unicorn Drill and Viper Whip already released with SRC Dendoh and Ogre): Leo Circle, Gatling Boar, Bull Horn and Dragon Flare. Along with the set comes Dendoh's support unit, the Cell Fighter and the Walkure Bike ridden by GEAR's 2nd commander, Vega. Cell Fighter Leo Circle Bull Horn Dragon Flare Gatling Boar Dendoh and Ogre fully equipped with their respective Data Weapons: My thoughts: The Data Weapon set does a really, really good job of pimping up the SRC Dendoh and Ogre release. The fact that they added on the support units is a major plus for me regarding this set. The Cell Fighter comes with it's own unique stand but can be easily loaded onto a Stage Act stand when playing. The Walkure bike is really nothing more than a display piece but I have to give credit to Bandai for giving the time to detail something so small. It really does look like Vega riding her bike.
The weapons are attached to the figure via either a connecting socket on the feet or a clamp that attaches to Dendoh/Ogre's forearm. Moving parts are where they should be, such as Dragon Flare's mouth, Gatling Boar's gun, and Leo Circle's mane to simulate the various Final Attack's used per weapon. Also, Bull Horn has an extension part for it to extend further forward.
All in all, an excellent set to add on to your SRC Dendoh and Ogre if you want to relive the action from the series. It's a bit on the expensive side though so I'd recommend this only to fans of Super Robots or of Gear Fighter Dendoh in particular.
Thanks for looking!
