Hey guys, i am planning to build and collect Gundams again (after a 7-year hiatus . I used to collect MG scale gundams, pero now gusto ko i try un mga big scale na 1/60, na hinde naman perfect grade. Un mga "big scale, real detail" na series. I have a few simple questions, hope you can help me guys: 1. Is it better "not to" paint gundams, and not apply the stickers when considering their "resale value"? I mean, if ever lang na ibenta ku sila ulit (na built na), mas saleable ba kung unpainted sila and unapplied un mga stickers? 2. and how about, kung hindi ku sila i paint, pero i give them "panel lines" lang and slightly seal them with clear coat (para gumanda lang un sheen nun plastic), and still will not apply the stickers, can they still be sold at near SRP prices? That's all bros, hope you can enlighten me and share me your know hows sa trend ng "buy and sell" of gundam built kits. i would really appreciate it guys, tnx in advance .

usually the trend among "reselling" gundam kits is that as long as the item is unassembled, unopened, and opened only for inspection, you can sell it by the level of the original acquired price.
however, depreciation of the price begins when you remove the runners from the sealed plastic bags, and increases every single limb/area is assembled. each method (applying the decals, panel lines, coats and even painting/modifying the kit) lowers the resale value of the item.
for instance - a "fresh" MG Freedom Gundam would cost 2200-2400, and once it is assembled the "reasonable" resale price would be around 1800-1500 regardless of it being painted or not.
now why does this happen, even if your painting gives good results on the kit?! most likely because buyers want a "fresh" kit wherein they can assemble it themselves or "feel" the construction. regardless of how "good" the results are, painted kits seems to have low selling price. unless you're a d**n good painter and has a reputation everywhere about it, you can sell it at a high price.
so here's some advice in selling assembled kits - do not apply the decals and keep them well (dont ever lose them) - usually modellers would ask about them firsthand as they are distinctive and comes only with that particular kit. you should also take care of the box and manuals as well.

it depends.
allow me to be brutally honest: - if its assembed only with no decal applications - 2000 to 1600 - assembled with decal applied and panel-lined - 1500 to lower - assembled, painted, customized - 1500 to lower (unless the kit itself won awards on some modelling contests or you have a reputation of being a d**n good modeller, the price could go higher) - assembled, unpainted but has loose joints and has minor damage/missing parts - 1500 to lower (but when the loose joint or damaged part is of MAJOR IMPORTANCE - the price could go plunge downward)
take my MG WZero that i recently sold for example, its unassembled, complete with decals and box but i kept the manual - eventually i could've sold it for 2300 (original price is 2500) but i sold it off at 2000 because i dont want anymore haggling negotiations with it. besides, 2000 for an unassembled complete kit without the manual is a steal.
another example would be the PG Zeta Gundam that i also sold - assembled and 80% painted. i kept the technical and data manuals but i threw the assembly manual for ease of disassembly and made scans of the transformation manual - all for 6k (actually i stupidly forgot to add the cost of shipping clause which cost me 900+ for sending it to CDO - so i sold it technically for 5k).
so if you really want to resell your kit at a higher price? well once you cut if off the sprues you're already depreciating it - thats the risk. i tend to sell off my kits "reasonably cheap" simply just for kicks because im curious on the way its constructed, etc. and when i grow tired of it, i sell it off. i usually sell it off without the box (depends if i like the box art) and manual.
and thats how the trend goes.

to answer you this question: i got this MG Zplus A1 for 1500 only (not including shipping costs, which is 200). the kit is panel lined, decals applied and covered in clear coat. and the seller kinda fooled me too, considering how impressive it looked by the good quality photos he provided. only by then when i personally inspected the item did i realize it was coated, not painted. 2. and how about, kung hindi ku sila i paint, pero i give them "panel lines" lang and slightly seal them with clear coat (para gumanda lang un sheen nun plastic), and still will not apply the stickers, can they still be sold at near SRP prices?

yes. eventually it depends on the weather, etc on making good coats daw. I think it should be the same as AB painting or spray painting. Do it on a rainy day, and it will be grainy. Spray too close or too far away, your coat will be messy, things like that. BTW, where are you taking your lessons? Or should I say, who is teaching you?
