It really is more of a Binaltech concept rather than as a MP. However, there are issues why Megs cannot have an alt mode as a weapon. Sadly, that's how it goes  |

yeah... its really kinda hard to import/export a toy that transforms into a weapon. its gonna go through a lot of heck going through customs and such as check-in baggae, so what more if a person buys it overseas and brings it as handcarry luggage? it'll be surely branded as a "terrorist" weapon, etc. like those perfumes and such.
the winner? the customs officials. heh.

maybe, as a compromise to TF fans, they can try to retain his robot mode as much as possible and find another, non-controversial alt mode (like what fistofdoom suggested, or maybe a galvatron-like alt mode) so this means that he cannot be a gun, an aerosol perfume spray or a lotion bottle... ;D sigh...  |

Not so if it is packaged in Robot mode and not in an alternate mode gun. The law is just weird. I mean you can literally buy a more harmful air gun that looks like the real gun but with the orange cap on its barrel but wait you can still replace that orange barrel with a custom made colored black to make it more realistic. |

i call shenanigans. that brown Abrams-tank "concept art" was debunked by the Hasbro design team themselves at Botcon 2006 to have been a "test" of sorts by a [an apparently designer-type] friend of the company to see how the fandom would react/accept the idea, and is not confirmed to be an official concept for any sort of Masterpiece Megatron toy. from the Allspark report: now, this could mean anything or even contain a faint nudge-nudge-wink-wink hint of things to come [especially since resonse to this art -- leaked months ago] was so good, but i wouldn't jump the gun just yet, personally. for BT/Alts, Megs would have been a Cadillac [the cancelled Cadillac XLR was going to be Megs, as confirmed in that same panel]. - last "masterpiece megs? cool if true, for now... taking it with a grain of salt the size of Texas  " maximal |

Here's an update on the MP Megs courtesy of Tformers:
We just got the following HOT update exclusively from Shoppertron vendor Mike at http://www.digital-toys.com: Just a follow-up that Takara/Tomy has shown the prototype of the MP-05 Megatron and it indeed WILL BE A GUN. I cannot say more at this time and Takara is not allowing pictures to be released yet, but we will have them shortly as soon as they permit.
Retailers in Japan have noted the barrel will be tipped with a plastic orange piece for safety reason to distinguish it as a toy as opposed from a real working fire arm.

Great news!!! According to tformers.com. Takara/Tomy did CONFIRM that MP-05 Megatron will be a gun! YES! a gun! (see quote below from tformers.com)
Finally some justice to Megatron! Just like every rule there is a "lusot" or a workaround -- Orange tip on the barrel!
Know the questions.
What gun will he be?
Will he be the same scale as MP-01?
Will he have some stupid electronic voice saying. " I have waited an enternity for this Optimus Prime!"
and the famous "Starscream you fool! " ;D ;D ;D

" ;D ;D ;D a gun. well, that clinches it. this is going to be more or less safe for me to ignore, except maybe to balance out displaying a 20th Prime/MP01 [which i haven't felt like getting yet]. if doing him "justice" means returning him to the silly roots of his origin , well, there you go. ;D
oh, and the "stupid" sounds will likely be along the lines of "[insert Japanese line here]" since this is a Japan-only product, unlikely to be marketed in the West for, like, ever. unless they made him look like a bright-green-plastic-bearing Nerf gun again [seriously, if the orange barrel-tip was enough of a "lusot", why didn't they ever import the reissue?].
