Id like to ask about applying wet transfer decals.. i've read some faqs and from what i understand it goes like this 1.)gloss the surface 2.)make sure its clean 3.)minimize the decal borders by using scalpel 4.)let it swim in a basin of luke warm water 5.)when it starts to separate, prepare the surface by wetting it 6.)apply the decal via fingers or tweezers 7.)when decal is alliged at the desired position start absorbing water from it via paper towels 8.)let decal dry 9.)spray a protective coat of a desired type did i miss anything ? aside from that decal liquid something that helps the decal stick.. for me naman when transferring decals as much as possible i don't use my fingers because the decals tend to stick to it. i use a cotton swab to hold the decal down. when the decal is aligned already and excess water is dried up by the paper towel i use a cotton swab to smoothen out the surface to avoid air bubbles. if air bubbles are present puncture it with a pin then apply liberal amounts of decal softener. protective coats like acrylic clear daw can cause silvering in the long run but so far i have'nt experienced this yet. and in the unfortunate event that your decals after drying up developed wrinkles the only way to remedy it is well...repeat the process again with a fresh set of decals. nyehehehhe.

Have another question: How do you maintain the paint brush? Do you simply dunk it in thinner after using and wash the paint away or is there something else that i should be doing? thanks! yup. that's the same way how i do it. don't forget to smotth it out while wet with your fingers. ehe. ;D

Yup it's available. I think it's called Mr. Mark Softer locally by Gunze Sangyo. and suggestion instead of dunking the decal on a small pool water why not place a wet sponge instead. beats fishing for decals diba? ;D Decal softener is a must for decals that need t4ransferring to irregular surfaces or surfaces with panel lines.

Im currently located in Cebu City and im not aware of any shop that carries Mr. Mark Softer.. even at tamiya
i wont be placing any decals over panel lines or irregular surfaces.. so maybe i can skip the decal softener

If you mean panel line remover you can alternatively use PineSol ( as what delta recommends ) IPA/Dishwashing liquid can also remove it.

@snap really? great. thanks! that'll help me on the marker splashes on my astray!
@delta thanks! i might still need to go ahead and get a pen-type marker remover as i intend to remove specific lines and not remove everything all together.
how about add'l decals for the kit? say, i wanted to put a different symbol than what came for the Gundam, where can I get those?

@ quattro03 with Pinesol or Simple Green, you can try dipping a Q-tip in either solution and see if it will help remove the panel lines. Also make sure you clean it off really well or else the next coat of paint or the new panel lines will not stick.

I'm interested in that film paper. So we just go to the art suipply counter in National bookstore and ask for "Film Paper"? I want to make custom decals too.
