I see, so with running water and constant brushing and occational resoaking it can completely remove all paint ?? in that case thats a LOT better than 95% IPA since i needed to sand some portions to remove left overs..
between Simple Green and PineSol which is stronger / better ? or are they perfectly equal in stripping paint ?

they're equal in my opinion. a LOT of miniature modellers (Gunpla modellers too i guess) use them. pinesol is a bit less expensive though.

Another thing about Pinesol: make sure you wash the part you dipped thoroughly to remove the Pinesol or else your paint will flake later. Simple Green is easier to clean off compared to Pinesol.

i have a question on Paint Remover. i know it's not Gundam-related, hope someone can answer this.
i'm planning to buy a Maisto 1:18 Diecast Bike. but the available color is just silver. i want to paint it with black with some gold touch-ups on details.
1. any advice on what paint remover will i use to remove the silver paint first? 2. and after the paint is removed, do i need to sand the metal? 3. and do i need to prime the metal first? or i can spraypaint it directly with no primer?
TIA. ;D

I think I can help a bit. 1. I'm not too sure what paint remover to use. Perhaps dipping it in bleach to remove the chrome paint or it could be industrial paint remover? Don't follow my advice outright, maybe sother GT members can shed more light on this since there are members with more modelling experience. 2. Maybe a little since you want a nice surface for your paint. 3. Better prime it first. I have tried painting metal before and paint will stick much better if you prime first. Unless you can find some sort of special formula paint for spraying directly on metal. Cheers!

noelif its all die cast then paint thinner can be used for that, make sure the plastic parts are removed first. . .

ikabod thanks bro. yup, i'll remove the plastic pices first. just a question, so it's ok to dunk the whole diecast part of the bike in paint thinner? TIA.

That I think should be ok. Guys, rhanen28 posted this site in the MP forum and I would like to share this with you all. It opened my eyes to more paint stripping options. www.bonediggers.com/1-3/strip/strip.html I like the Castrol Super Clean Degreaser. I may look it up in Ace Hardware, True Value or the nearest gas station.
