Amen to that brother!!! Network really don't mind bad impressions, it means people watched it coz' they've already judge it to suit their taste. Please be aware the example what happens on Capt. Barbel for instance muntik ng maging smallville after seeing it some have watched it even thou they have much bad impressions the network still run the show coz' some people still watches it (maskipapano may tumatankilik pa). And they have to hold on to this phrase until the rating drops and ending the show. I've heard theres much to be done to the show but seems they can't make up with their marked rating so the network ends the story.

as far as sentiments go on in terms of how we enjoyed Shaider in the past, I think that's all well and good but we also have to determine who the target crowd of GMA is. They may still target us who've watched it in the past but they also need to consider the new generation who'll be watching it now and what they like. from my observation, (you may or may not agree with this) most of the kids I know nowadays watch those telenovelas so integrating a sci-fi love story whatever with a popular character would seem like a good marketing plan to get ratings. just to use the smallville example by giehar. i also initially didn't like the idea but upon watching the series, i found out it was pretty good. sometimes, these things just grow on you. then again, they may not. My point: Let's not be too quick to judge. It may suck, it may not. But let 'em try. Who knows? If it doesn't turn out well, follow the advice above. Don't watch. But if you like it. Bravo. One more for the Filipino. My two cents.

Seen it already. Unfortunately, the costumes aren't impressive. They're more Robocop-ish than Shaider and the costumes really look like spandex with glued pieces of aluminum foil. Plus the fact that they're a group of 3 make them more of a Super Sentai team than a Metal Hero sequel. But who knows? It might grow on us.... I dunno...

If a staff member from GMA will secretly join a Cosplay Contest. He could probably win the best authentic costume for ZAIDO.... then later on.... the guy gets fired!!! heheheh......

OMG! what a shame.. they dont even proportioned the helmet... do they realy want to get high rating on this kind of show? or they dont want to scratch the faces of their actors, thats why the helmet looks like crap.. its much bigger than the usual motor helmet!

from the inquirer newspaper last monday, it seems ida and drigo are both still in it, yet both character are supposed to be dead in the original series already. continuity flaw?
also i saw a trailer yesterday, it seems one of the zaido characters is also named "alexis", which is dai sawamura's name in the tagalog version.
it may not be a continuity flaw since they can just adopt the names of their predecessors, like in the mortal kombat series, sub zero os actually more than one person. a lot of ninjas in his clan used the name so there were multiple incarnations of the same name. BUT i dont think that's the case here. i think it's a case of the writers not doing their homework again...

i don't think it's continuity flaw. because some of the trailers says, these kids are descendants of Alexis/Shaider. and once again, Fuma will reign terror on Planet Earth, specifically the Philippines. about the Ida and Drigo character, maybe they revived it using some aparatus or something because they're costumes are now different.
besides, what happened here is it's 'GMA's' take on the said characters. so technically, we still have no idea what's the synopsis will be. how Fuma-Le-Ar revive? how this will tie up on Shaider?
but i'm defintely sure that later in the series a love story will be added to the mix. in which they will question their dedication to the force and the right to fall in love. typical Filipino Mix. hehehe. ;D

well if these new heroes are grandkids of shaider then it has to be connected to the japanese and that means ley-ar, drigo and ida are all supposed to be dead. i can understand the alexis part since they could all be descendants of the warrior shaider, the one that fought the mu empire 12,000 years ago.
i dont think this is GMA's take. i think the writers already started writing this story thinking that they had the rights to shaider from toei. then they found out that they were denied, so now they are stuck with it and are just modifying it a little bit to avoid getting sued. that's probably why ley-ar, drigo and ida and even the amazonas are still alve in this version. orginally there was only supposed to be one space sheriff in zaido, and that was marky cielo. when toei denied gma the rights to shaider, that wqs when they adjusted their plot and added 2 more so it will be different. but the rest were already in place...
i dont mind the love angle, it's the take of a normal/mainstream person. any normal person who watches the original shaider had the same question in their mind - why shaider and annie didnt fall in love with each other. the fact that they didnt fall in love with each other in the japanese version is a clear flaw in the story and shows that the events in the original story was unrealistic. how can 2 goodlooking ppl who are so loveable NOT consider falling for each other? the only way that could happen is if they were gay and that was clearly not the case. and dont tell me it's coz they are on an important galactic mission and its a sign of their dedication, even ppl in the toughest departments in the military have loved ones. the right for military ppl to fall in love shouldnt be something that even has to be questioned coz they DO have that right. the fact that we think they should refrain from it is the same reason such feelings become repressed.
i mean come on, this is the new millenium already, it's no longer the 80's [the era of the original shaider] so it's time to update the story to suit the times. we can't base this on the old type of kids like the li'l rascals who thought it was sissy to have anything to do with girls and even had a "he-man woman haters club".

the costumes looks ugly! baduy! I wont be surprised if the 80's shaider special effects/action scenes would still look better (even if I saw some strings and cardboard walls). Im also wondering if GMA would come up their own vavilos! hahaha..
**for sure il get violent reactions for posting this hehe. GMA! prove me wrong!

Actually, in light of jrcrunch's post, I'm also wondering about how GMA'll handle the "tech" in ZAIDO.
What equipments do they have? What vehicles (henshin-ed and un-henshin-ed...) and weapons? Will it be the Vavilos, or a new Galactic Patrol-issue weapon of mass ass-kicking? CGI or toy models?
The possibilites are endless if only the writers put more sense into it...

we just heard from the trailers that Fuma is somehow involve. i think there was a rewrite somewhere when TOEI didn't approve the first draft. so maybe GMA writers did is write a whole new concepts involving some of the old characters and add new Zaido's. now as to questions why they used the old characters, that i don't know yet. even GMA never states or tell why they decided to use it. but still TOEI gave them the GO signal so it's up to them to write their own stories.
now, what i meant on the love story is -- i don't mind that too. i understand their rights to fall in love. it's just that i think it's a cheap marketing to sell the show. why? yun ang gusto nang masa. in which IMO, it's funny and a cheap move by the writers. it's a teleserye eh. what can i expect but some old formula, right?
