The Last Airbender
Because the Avatar title was already copyrighted by James Cameron, they had to settle for the "The Last Airbender" which for some reason could possibly confuse those who do not recognise the Nickelodeon animeish tv series.
M. Night did a good job but not great... He did incorporated almost everything he can into the movie based on the episodes for Season 1 Book 1: Water. In the first 20 minutes of the movie you'd feel the animated series coming to life but that's where it ends... the rest of the movie got too serious and took everything a bit too serious which was contrary to the animated series which incorporates the feeling of being a child and the chosen one at the same time.
I'm not critical about what they show in the movie it's just that if you know how Aang reacts to everything then you'll know that something is off in the film. Aang is playful but you rarely see that in the movie. Katara and Sokka seems just right IMO but their interaction was way too goody-goody.
Lot's if Indians (from India not Native Americans) here as well since M. Night made them the leaders of the Fire Nation, the Asians are the Earth Kingdom so they will have bigger roles if the movie goes on to finish the trilogy. I have no problems with that as long as the trilogy goes on... and a better rendition of the 2nd and 3rd books.
According to news, they had to cut some scenes from the movie due to pacing... so you can watch them on the DVD release... LOL
The good news however is that it went past it's total production cost from it's worldwide ticket sales, which could also mean that we can expect the 2nd book soon. Unlike this version, it will be made in 3D and not a conversion.
Speaking of 3D, you may want to pass on that since most of the 3D effects would probably be not quite as good as you may think since this is only a conversion...
I give this movie a 2 out of 5
Killers
I didn't really want to see this movie but I like watching Ketherine Heigl since the TV series Roswell (but not really into Grey's Anatomy). Nuff said... ;D
Yes the story is simple but you get lots of action and some funny scenes... just a typical popcorn movie to pass time.
I give this movie a 2.5 out of 5
The Book of Eli
Well, I can't really say I like it nor do I don't like it... it's a mix reaction to a Denzel Washington movie...
So, what's the book of Eli? It's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because of the size... or a braille script of the movie "Flash Dance" because when Jennifer Beals' blind character touched a page of the book, she smiled remembering a scene from her the movie...
Just joking, anyway you may already have seen this movie so I wouldn't tell what book is it, just check Wiki if you want to know...
The message of the story is "How far will you go for your faith?"
I give this movie a 3 out of 5

The Karate/Kung Fu/Best Kid Kid
Aside from the title this movie is a good retelling of the Karate Kid although why they moved the setting to China is baffling. Why I typed ll 3 titles instead of the International release? Because it is Kung Fu Kid in China (just fitting since I doubt if you'll believe a movie of a kid learning Karate in China) while it is Best Kid in Japan and Korea...
I like Jacky Chan and this is his redeeming movie from the awful movie storyline that is "The Tuxedo", there may be other movies but this is the biggest Hollywood movie he has recently. I just wonder why they didn't just make the movie in Japan, watching a lot of animes and jdrama will show you that there's a lot of conflicts you can muster in that country as well which would be fitting for the Krate Kid movie since the second movie (original) has Japan for a backdrop.
Jacky already acted as a Japanese in "Cannonball Run" and he can pull off the accent, so why not on this one? I think he can muster a few Karate moves as well...
Anyhoo, you won't be disappointed in this movie since it didn't really changed the tone of the original. The interesting difference I found is the final move "Dre" used in the competition; instead of the crane he used the snake stance he saw in one part of the movie.
If you haven't seen it yet, I wouldn't be adding more spoilers but I can recommend this for a rent and not buy. Enjoy.
I give this movie a 2 out of 5

Despicable Me
Really funny and heart warming 3D movie, although I'm saving my buck for Avatar 3D Extended Version (since I watched the regular version last Xmas) you shouldn't miss this movie, ever...
I don't know what age a kid should be to enjoy this movie but if they can't sit and stay for a movie then you will be disappointed. If your kid does not react with glee on the promos, then it's a sign...
This is a family safe movie with little or no reference to materials that are aimed to older audiences (aka Shrek jokes).
Going 3D? Unless you're planning to watch another 3D movie beyond your budget, then I recommend watching it on 3D.
I give this movie a 4 out of 5. See for yourself why this movie earned more than it's production cost... www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=despicableme.htm

Avatar 3D Extended VersionGoing 3D? This is the best way to watch this movie... EVER... If only Starmall Shaw is showing this and not Despicable Me... Why you may ask? Because, the way the cinema makes the screen really close to the viewer and you can watch without having to strain your neck in Megamall cinema just to watch a freakin' movie. Anybody know if you can still find a surplus 3D glasses which were being sold in a PC surplus shop in Megamall before? Megamall and Starmall seem to have the same type of 3D glasses... they tend to drop from your nose arch specially if you don't have a bone/cartilage in there that can hold any glasses up... those surplus 3D glasses were better in design and uses the same polarized glasses technology... I never thought I'd say this but, I flinched a couple of times during some fight scenes where projectiles (2 as per count, thus couple) flew towards the viewer's field of vision... LOL I can still remember how I felt funny reacting to a movie... but then again you can really see the thing coming towards you when you're not expecting anything to go that way... LOL Anyhoo, this movie is the same old one you may have seen last year but with lots of additional scenes, some long and interesting while some are short but sweet. SPOILER ALERTTo list a few: - Pandora "Cows" before they come to enter the forest, - Navi school after they landed in the forest, - Gathering at the fire, - Hunting Pandora "Cows", - Death of Tsu'tey... The rumor about additional "sex" scenes were not true... nada... not one freakin bit... Probably the new DVD version coming this November... Anyhoo you know the story, but don't worry the additional scenes didn't change anything it only reaffirm Jake's reaction in the last part of the movie... I give this movie a 4.9 out of 5. Why? Because nothing is perfect...

The Other Guys
Forget other police movies that came out this year or last year... this is the movie to watch. It's so funny from start to finish and the action scenes doesn't get the most part of the movie but they're worth watching... not the brightest police squad but that's makes for fun comedy... there's also a deeper story entangled within which the end credits will "explain" which our government can take note of as well.
It's got lots of funny parts, I like the one where Mark Whalberg had a fist fight with Rob Riggle quietly...
I liked Michael Keaton in comedy and IMO liked him in the Batman series (at that time) and shouldn't have been changed in the later movies which had gone really bad and really gay...
As suspected, Ice T was the narrator; although he was uncredited you will recognize his voice if you watch L&O SVU...
Take the movie lightly because it's comedy and you will enjoy every last bit of it... 2TU ;D
I give this movie a 4 out of 5
Vampire Sucks
And as the title suggests... this movie sucks big time... if you like jokes tailored for the Twilights Saga you may like this movie, but as those jokes are "injected" into most scenes without real need for the story to evolve... you'll get bored with this movie as soon as can be...
No content worth mentioning except that they condensed the two movies in one with the first movie getting the most part in this sorry a** flick...
I give this movie a 1 out of 5
Mac Gruber
I would've enjoyed this movie but in the end I just want to see how they ended it... not worth a ticket in the cinema and definitely not worth your while...
They could have salvaged the movie with better writers, but then again the Saturday Night Live version and Pepsi Ads where much better than this movie...
There are funny bits here and there but what are jokes when you can forget about them and not tickle your funny bones until you exit the cinema?
I give this movie a 2 out of 5

Spoiler Alert
Resident Evil 4: Afterlife
This is mostly an escapism movie with lots of action, running and bloodshed... oh and a whole lot of gunshots and explosions...
Is it worth the 3D experience? I watched the 2D version, but I can truly say that if I had more money to burn I'd watch this movie in 3D. The movie have lots of shots that would be very interesting to see in 3D and although they are not designed to exploit so much of the "3D effect", you'll enjoy the heck out of it...
Other than the Redfields, the movie have 5 extra characters who have the sad role of either facing a brutal fate or luckily see live as the credits roll... Okay 3 of them died although not quite as gruesome as can be... one left for dead with a zombie dog and one escaped a brutal attack from behind (no he's not r.... that's not the kind of brutality I had in mind... LOL)
Sadly we're not going to see Mila Jovovich in any sexy scene so might as well watch Resident Evil 2 or Fifth Element if you want those scenes...
However the story is not as deep as any other Resident Evil movie so you seek enjoyment in the games for that part... as I mentioned, this movie is purely escapism so don't expect anything more than what is being shown...
At best the movie is more like "The Matrix" in 3D because of the action scenes where "Albert Wesker" shows off his T-virus "powers"... so you may come to think "What if they re-released The Matirx Trilogy in 3D?" Titanic will have a 3D release, why not Matrix...
It's almost a typical zombie movie, but with more fire power...
I give this movie a 3 out of 5

Mokei Senshi GUNPLA Builders Beginning G Recently I've been trying to find out what the heck is with the Beginning Gundam that's making all the fuss in Bandai and magazines alike... Here's the OAV for those who haven't seen it yet, but it's not translated nor is it fansubbed... PM me if you have one, LOL...Anyway, I don't really care much for the Gundam's design but you can appreciate the idea of building your kit the way you want to, scan it in a Gundam pilot cockpit and battle the net with other Gunpla builders... wouldn't it be a great experience specially if you have an extremely modified Gundam kit? Anyway, since Bandai hasn't been making rounds removing these videos, enjoy it while it's still available on Youtube because I don't think you will like buying a copy of a 15 minute video... unless you got into the series and really liked what you see... Should the Mods think it inappropriate to post here since it's Gundam and it should be in the proper place or posting this video this even, then you can remove this post...

Piranha 3D
This is one movie I should have watched in 3D, unless of course they removed all those glorious "naky" shots...
As mentioned, I didn't see this in 3D. So as not to confuse with the old Piranha movie I still added the "3D"...
This is mostly an escapism movie with lots of running, I mean swimming and bloodshed... oh and unnecessary gunshots and so called heroism...
If you've seen a disaster movie with this theme then you've seen them all. The only consolation and satisfaction you will get when you watch this movie in 3D and in the big screen is that...
There's a lot of glorious booby shots and a couple of sexy sirens swimming underwater in their birthday suit...
If 3D cinema isn't that expensive, this is one movie I want to see again... specially seeing topless and bottomless sirens underwater... except for the part where Jerry O'connells schlong is shown being ripped, swallowed and spit out by a couple of Piranhas...
I give this movie a 3 out of 5

Mokei Senshi GUNPLA Builders Beginning G Here's the 2nd OAV, but it's not translated nor is it fansubbed... PM me if you have one, LOL...Funny thing is, the main character has good hands in painting and panel lining... try panel lining that fast... The owner of Forever Gundam IMHO is a spoil sport... ;D Enjoy!

Thanks, I hope we only have a month again to see the last episode... the Forever Gundam kit will come out on January and that's a long wait for the last episode... Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
Yeah there is a DVD copy of this movie but I will still get to the movie theaters when this film comes out locally... even though it's target audience is teens to 25y.o.
Some changes are made from the original comic book series, changing most of the unwanted back story to simplify them, removing parts that will not affect the final outcome, some events changed to fill the movie...
All-in-all this is still a very good movie that sticks to the book so much you can memorize the script from the comic... they practically used everything from the comic including the feel and atmosphere unlike other comic based movies that almost removes themselves from the original material.
If you like games, comedy and action, this movie is for you...
I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5
RED
Another comic based movie... since I don't have an inkling on what the comic book is all about, it didn't affect my experience of the movie.
It's a good popcorn movie with good laughs and lots of gunshots... so yeah, I like it but i will not watch it the second time around...
I give this movie a 3 out of 5
Megamind
Being the number 1 movie right now in the US, I definitely invite you to watch Megamind.
By far this is the child safest Dreamworks Animation movie I've ever seen. The story is simple but the humor is great, you'd think that they will put lots of not so child friendly jokes in this film but believe me this has less naughty and suggestive jokes than the Shrek series.
Will Ferrel is really hilarious in most of his movies so, expect to hear more in this one... I still like watching The Other Guys...
There are scenes where they may look great in 3D, but do realize that you can get sick if the visuals affect your sense of balance or something. The 2D version is great, but I'm saving for the 3D Harry Potter installment next week...
I really enjoyed this film so I recommend watching it in 3D or 2D whichever you like... FYI I passed on watching Due Date for this...
I give this movie a 4 out of 5

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Wow!!! Harry Potter movies really does not disappoint the series fans may it be in the books or movies...
What can I say, watch it before it's too late...
Okay some parts are imaginatively more interesting when you're reading the book, but the movie can only put in enough information...
Because of the size of the book, the movie is made into two parts which are more than 6 months apart unlike the last two Matrix movies... And this 2 part movie thing is also used for the next Twilight movie (because it's also a long story, I suppose)...
If you can't wait for the 2nd part, read the book... and enjoy the experience...
I give this movie a 5 out of 5

TRON
Awesome... this movie is a combination of 2D and 3D depending on where the setting is. The virtual realm is in 3D while the real world is in 2D but you don't need to remove your glasses for this.
It's story IMHO is similar to the original TRON, but this time it's a father and son escape from the game world. The visuals are great even if the designs seems to have changed greatly from the older version.
I do however think the young Jeff Bridges was way too "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within"ish and doesn't really depict the actor in his former self from the older film... you be the judge...
I really enjoyed this film so I recommend watching it in 3D or 2D whichever you like... FYI I passed on watching Due Date for this...
I give this movie a 4 out of 5
